PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Misho Bang (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dean Faulkner (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Faulkner has chosen Ruff Ryders' Anthem as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 6 - 0, fighting out of London, Misho Bang!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Dean Faulkner!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Chris Edwards and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Faulkner fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Bang, pushing him back against the ropes.

Faulkner is trying to trip Bang. He has hold of a leg but Bang is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Faulkner persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Faulkner postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Faulkner has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Bang is proving hard to escape from.
Faulkner trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Faulkner with a flurry of punches that miss.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Bang pushes Faulkner off and gets back to his feet.

Faulkner shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Faulkner was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Faulkner can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Bang is looking to escape.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Bang wants to control but Faulkner is having none of it.
A nice elbow there by Faulkner.
The referee warns Bang that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Faulkner takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Bang can't escape the position.
Bang is in a horrible position here. Faulkner smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dean Faulkner dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Faulkner moves into range and clinches up with Bang.
Faulkner is looking for a takedown up against the ropes. Bang gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Faulkner shoots in and bounces Bang off the ropes to secure the takedown into guard.

Faulkner feints and as Bang raises his hands in defense, Faulkner changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Bang will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Faulkner decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

Faulkner has managed to clinch.

Faulkner turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Faulkner scores with a one two! Bang had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Faulkner shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Faulkner lands a nice shot to the head.
Bang is squirming around, avoiding Faulkner's attempts to control the action.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Faulkner is working for a guillotine from mount but Bang frees his head quite easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dean Faulkner showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Faulkner is pressing down on Bang's thigh, looking to free his foot. Bang is holding on for now.

Faulkner decides to return to a standing position.
Misho Bang seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bang dives in and grabs Faulkner's left leg, looking for a takedown. Faulkner pushes down on Bang's head and hops out.

and Faulkner counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Faulkner.
Bang prevents a takedown attempt there.

Faulkner is looking to advance position but Bang won't allow it.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Faulkner decides to stand and escape the position.

Dean Faulkner comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Faulkner has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
