Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Nathan Corbett (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eddie Kingston (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nathan Corbett! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
12 - 6 - 0, fighting out of New York, Eddie Kingston! The judges for this bout are Anthony Taglia, Franklyn Lucas and David Schapiro.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kingston scores with a punch to the head. Kingston connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. A big right from Kingston misses. Kingston leaves Corbett with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. A left and a right from Kingston both land. Nice combination.
It looks like Nathan Corbett has been cut. Corbett throws a nice outside leg kick. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! A big right from Kingston misses. A head kick misses from Corbett. Kingston fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Corbett. Nice body punch from Corbett. Kingston thows a body shot but no joy. Kingston misses with a hook. Corbett ducked under it nicely. Good exchange - Kingston coming out on top. Kingston ducks under a wild hook from Corbett. Kingston works Corbett's body with a nice hook. Kingston connects with a single shot there. Corbett misses with a straight left. Corbett stuffs the takedown attempt from Kingston. Kingston gets slowly back to his feet. Corbett displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Kingston throws out the jab. Kingston throws out a leg kick but Corbett moves out of range and Kingston only half commits.
That's one minute gone in the round. A kick lands to the mid section there for Corbett. Corbett throws a nice head kick!
It looks like Eddie Kingston has been cut. Kingston looks gassed! Corbett misses with a takedown and Kingston counters with a left to the body. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Corbett slips a jab from Kingston. Kingston throws a big shot that misses. Kingston throws a body punch but Corbett moves out of range. Corbett misses with a leg kick. Kingston lands with a right hand. Corbett ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Corbett thuds his right hand into Kingston's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters. Nice defenses there by Corbett. Corbett lands a nice looking body kick. Corbett misses with a low kick.
Kingston takes one to the chin there. Corbett lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise. Kingston misses with a leg kick and Kingston takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
That has opened up Eddie Kingston's cut even more. Corbett connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Kingston tumbling to the canvas! Corbett pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Kingston was done - good stoppage!
