Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Edward Stout! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Franklin Faber! The judges for this bout are Gregory Folan, Yves DeLean and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Stout stuffs the takedown attempt from Faber. Faber gets slowly back to his feet. Horrible takedown by Faber or perhaps it was just good defense by Stout which made him look bad. Stout gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Faber wants to control from the top but Stout keeps moving. Stout looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Faber pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Stout is keeping the position for now. Faber avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Faber postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round. Stout is trying to control the position but Faber postures up. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Edward Stout has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Franklin Faber. Faber tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Faber gets caught flat footed, as Stout shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. Stout drops back looking for a leg! Faber is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Faber manages to kick Stout off! Stout jumps back into Faber's guard. Faber looks gassed!

Faber kicks Stout off and gets to his feet. Stout looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Stout has gone for a leg lock! Faber slips out almost immediately though and dives into Stout's guard. Faber must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

It's a sloppy attempt though and Faber jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Faber tries to stand but Stout is controlling from the bottom. Stout drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Faber manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Stout has Faber in his guard. Faber wants to get up but he can't break Stout's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Faber wants to control from the top but Stout keeps moving. Faber is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully. Faber with a flurry of punches that miss. Faber trying to control but Stout is working from the bottom. Faber sitting in guard here, content to control. Faber is breathing heavily. Faber wants to control from the top but Stout keeps moving.

Stout is staying active underneath Faber, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Stout wants to get back to full guard. Faber slips a nice elbow through Stout's hands, connecting with Stout's forehead. Faber is looking to take a break and control but Stout is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Stout manages to get to full guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Edward Stout will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Faber is positioning himself well to prevent Stout advancing to mount. Stout seems to be working for a kimura but Faber defends the submission attempt. Stout is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Stout is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Faber has managed to free his arm - good work. Stout uses his free foot to push down on Faber's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Faber.

Stout quickly switches position and commits to an armbar! It's a big risk for Stout but it's paid off an Faber is forced to tap! Nice work by Stout.
