Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Diego Mir (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Piotrowski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mir comes into the arena with Runnin blaring out of the sound system. Diego Mir has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Diego Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Robert Piotrowski!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir wants to clinch up but Piotrowski keeps it at a distance.
Mir tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Piotrowski paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Piotrowski is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Piotrowski tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Mir was well out of range. Poor timing from Piotrowski.
Piotrowski feints and then cracks Mir's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Mir down.
Mir tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Piotrowski paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Mir moves in looking to clinch but Piotrowski pushes him off.

Mir darts in trying to clinch
and Piotrowski counters with a low kick, right behind Mir 's knee.
No luck for Mir with that takedown attempt.
Mir tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Piotrowski counters with a head kick. That will keep Mir thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Piotrowski has closed the distance and engaged Mir in a clinch.
Oh Mir is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Piotrowski wants to get up but he can't break Mir's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

and Mir takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Piotrowski has hold of one of Mir's legs. Mir is fighting the takedown attempt but Piotrowski gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Mir is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Piotrowski is controlling him.
Piotrowski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mir. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Mir is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Piotrowski stands up and waves to Mir to follow him.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Piotrowski lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.

Mir is fighting off a takedown attempt but Piotrowski is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Mir to the mat. Mir regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Mir crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Piotrowski - the referee stops the clock and Mir gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Piotrowski. Mir manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Piotrowski fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Mir.
Mir closes the distance but Piotrowski moves to the side
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Mir is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

Piotrowski buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.

and Piotrowski makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

The pace slowing considerably in the clinch, as Piotrowski takes a break from that fighting nonsense to think about the finer things in life.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mir changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Piotrowski tries to avoid it but Mir manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Piotrowski to the ground. Piotrowski escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

This is turning into a torrid day at the office for Mir. He's trying desperately to land a takedown but he's failing miserably and getting slapped silly on the feet to compound his misery.

Robert Piotrowski showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Piotrowski moves into the clinch.
Piotrowski has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Piotrowski has Mir pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Mir manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Piotrowski wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Mir's closed guard. He's half up but Mir has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Mir pivots and extends the arm, Piotrowski falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Mir! Well done that man!
