Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between jb benn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Peter Paul (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Paul is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: DMX. Peter Paul has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
benn lands a head shot.
Paul fails to land the takedown.
benn throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Nice sprawl there from benn as Paul shoots in.
Paul closes the distance and clinches up with benn, looking for a takedown. Paul pushes benn against the cage but benn circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
jb benn has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Peter Paul.
Paul misses with a takedown attempt - benn sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
benn scores with a shot to the body.

Paul shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in benn's guard.

benn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Paul doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Paul manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Paul has gone for a leg lock! benn slips out almost immediately though and dives into Paul's guard.

Paul had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. benn defends it easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
benn is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Paul is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
benn scoring with punches to the head and body.
benn wants to control from the top but Paul keeps moving.
benn is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Paul tries to clinch but benn is having none of it.
Paul shoots in for a double leg but benn sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Paul.

benn takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Paul shoots for a takedown but benn saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Paul is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
benn closes the distance and lands a one-two.

benn lunges at Paul with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Paul's hand.
benn looks to land a combination but Paul avoids it well.

benn feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

benn is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Paul doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time benn.

Paul is staying active underneath benn, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Paul shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and benn counters with a nice double leg into side control. Paul won't be happy with that.
Paul manages to work his way to half guard, despite benn's best efforts.

benn is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Paul on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
benn perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
benn thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Paul's head.

Paul works his way to full guard. Good work.
Paul is breathing heavily.
Paul is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
benn tries to free his leg and advance position but Paul is retaining full guard.

Paul has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. benn is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Paul.
benn advances to mount.

benn working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Paul looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by benn! Submission of the night perhaps?
