Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world! Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, George Whissell! And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jordan Lee! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Elvis Blanc and Steve Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Whissell moves into range and clinches up with Lee. Whissell breaks the clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Lee. Whissell clinches with his opponent.
Whissell is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Lee can't fight it off and eventually Whissell manages to take the fight to the floor. Lee looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Whissell gets to his feet. Lee looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Lee gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Whissell fails in his attempt to clinch. Lee looks for a takedown but Whissell sprawls well. Whissell throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Lee on the side of the head. Whissell throws a jab when Lee was well out of range. Whissell rushes Lee and presses him up against the cage. Whissell has clasped his hands together around Lee's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Lee tries to get back to half guard but can't. Lee struggling a bit here. Lee manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu!

Lee wants to take a breather but Whissell is having none of it. Lee prevents Whissell from standing back up.
Lee is keen to just control but Whissell is a slippery customer. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Whissell looks like he's trying to stand up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Lee is looking to clinch. Lee wants to clinch but Whissell slips to the side and Whissell counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Whissell rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Lee moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Whissell throws out a loose jab but Lee uses good head movement to avoid it. Whissell has taken the fight to the clinch.
Whissell goes for a takedown attempt but Lee pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Whissell scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction. Lee looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Whissell is breathing heavily. Whissell is looking to stand up but Lee isn't so interested in that idea. Lee trying to control but Whissell is working from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Whissell is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. Lee wants to control from the top but Whissell keeps moving. Lee throws a big right hand that misses. Lee won't allow Whissell to get back to his feet.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Lee keeps the fight on the outside. Lee shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. George Whissell has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jordan Lee. Whissell tries to clinch but Lee moves out of range. George Whissell seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Whissell throws a series of punches but Lee moves out of range. Whissell drives through and clinches with Lee against the cage.
Lee tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Whissell just stands there and leans against the cage. Lee jumps guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Lee wants to stand but Whissell is controlling the position. Whissell wants to control from the top but Lee keeps moving. Lee uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Lee feints and as Whissell raises his hands in defense, Lee changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Lee stays in close to Whissell's body and controls the position. Lee gets to his feet - Whissell follows without any prompting. Lee pushes Whissell up against the cage in a clinch. Lee cracks Whissell with a nice body shot. Lee has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Whissell is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Lee just leaning against Whissell, taking a breather. Lee gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Whissell.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Lee drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Whissell gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Whissell is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Lee can't fight it off and eventually Whissell manages to take the fight to the floor. Lee will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
Whissell pushes down on Lee's leg and manages to get into half guard. Whissell decides to stand up. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Whissell throws a hook to the side of Lee's head but Lee sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Whissell scores with a one two! Lee had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Whissell fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Lee on the side of the head. Lee avoids a punch combination nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
George Whissell dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Whissell clinches up with Lee and pushes him back against the cage. Whissell gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Lee.

Lee breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Whissell lands with a nice body punch. Whissell misses with a low kick. Lee tries to clinch there but Whissell circles away.
Whissell keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Whissell tries to bum rush Lee with a series of wild strikes but Lee uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Whissell clinches but Lee breaks the clinch and Lee counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Lee. Lee manages to break the clinch.
Lee looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Whissell! Whissell is desperately trying to improve his position but Lee has a good base and remains in mount. Whissell really wants to buck Lee off and get back to his feet. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Whissell is squirming around, avoiding Lee's attempts to control the action. Whissell is trying to escape the mount.

Lee scores with a couple of good head shots there.
Lee working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet. Whissell working to try and regain half guard.
Lee pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. You get the feeling that Whissell really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Lee has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Whissell's face.
Whissell is rocked! Lee trying to control but Whissell is having none of it. Oh Whissell is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Whissell looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Whissell rolls, trying to escape but Lee keeps control of the position.
Lee lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Whissell hold on?!
Whissell tries to escape but Lee has the hooks in and won't let him break free. Whissell is working hard here to advance position. The referee is taking a good look at Whissell as he is on the wrong end of some big shots from Lee!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Lee controls the position. Whissell breaks Lee's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Whissell won't allow Lee to sweep him here. Lee not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Whissell has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Lee is proving hard to escape from. Lee bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Whissell's guard. Lee works over Whissell with some ground and pound from guard. Whissell tries to land a sweep but no joy. Lee advances to half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lee scores with a couple of good hammerfists. Lee thows a huge punch but Whissell dodges it nicely.

Lee has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Lee lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Lee content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Jordan Lee has got the better of the ground game so far. Whissell is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Lee scores with a couple of nice shots. Lee working the head and body with strikes. Lee is nestled in close to Whissell, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Lee is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Lee is looking for a kimura but Whissell is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Lee to get the leverage. Whissell wants to control but Lee is keeping busy.
Lee working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that. Lee has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Whissell defend it? Lee steps over the head and cranks it - Whissell is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Lee!
