PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Davi Nanini (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Franklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Franklin comes into a darkened arena with his song building. The Dipset Anthem-The Diplomats kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! On his way into the cage it seems that Davi Nanini has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Davi Nanini seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Yves DeLean and Ian Loll.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nanini clinches up with Franklin and pushes him back against the cage.
Franklin on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.
Nanini throws a punch but it's blocked by Franklin.

Franklin breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Franklin misses with an uppercut.
Franklin tries to bum rush Nanini with a series of wild strikes but Nanini uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Franklin drops his hands momentarily and Nanini takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
A head kick lands from Nanini that sends Franklin to the canvas. Franklin tries to scramble back to his feet but Nanini brings him back down into side control.

Franklin is rocked!

Nanini tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nanini has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Franklin is still in real trouble! Can Nanini finish him?
Franklin is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Nanini asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Franklin seems to have recovered his senses.

Nanini tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.

Nanini working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Nanini is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Franklin knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Franklin wants to get back to his feet but Nanini drags him back down.
Nanini tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Nanini wants to lay and pray for a moment but Franklin keeps working.
Franklin is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Nanini has just dragged him back down to the mat.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground.
Franklin throws a hook but Nanini avoids it easily.
Nanini throws a head kick that half lands.
Nanini thuds his shin into the meat of Franklin's side.
Franklin looks gassed!
Nanini tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Franklin has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Nanini.
Nanini jabs Franklin right on the nose. Franklin blinks but takes it well.
Davi Nanini is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Nanini throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Nanini doesn't manage to clinch there - Franklin circles away.
Franklin lands with a hook. Nanini tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.

It looks like Davi Nanini has been cut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Franklin misses with a kick to the body
and Nanini counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Franklin drops Nanini with a straight right hand, right on the button! Franklin follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
