Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Ron James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Ames (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ron James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Nathan Ames! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Lou da Vinci and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! James has taken the fight to the clinch.
James throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Amess head. James just leaning against Ames, taking a breather. James gets a warning from the ref for wasting time. James lands with a left to the head. Ames is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage. James is working Ames over against the cage. Ames tries to break the clinch but James is controlling the position. Ames is trying to break the clinch but James is controlling him. James's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not. Ames tries to score a body lock takedown but James shows good agility there to stay on his feet. James is struggling to control the position. James seems to have come into the fight with the intention of avoiding any damage in the clinch, rather than actually showing any aggression. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Ron James. Ames thows a body shot but no joy.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ames misses with a low kick. A left and a right from James both land. Nice combination. James takes the fight into the clinch. Nice body punch from James - that landed with a thud.
A bit of stalling here from James.
James escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
James is looking to clinch. James misses with a straight right. James lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Ames shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. James instigates a clinch. James will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Ames up against the cage. James is leaning against Ames and scores with a nice uppercut to the body.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ames tries to circle away but James has him pinned against the cage. James breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
James defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ames. Ron James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Nathan Ames. Ames misses the shot to the body. James moves into the clinch. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. A short right hand to the side of the head by James. James holding his opponent close, against the cage.
James breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. James stalks Ames and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Ames's face. Ames staggers backwards, shaken. Ames throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Ames shoots in for a takedown but James shows good takedown defense. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ames is defended easily by James. Ames misses with an uppercut.
That's three minutes gone in the round. James scores with a three punch combo!
James tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Ames paws at him with a jab and circles away. James closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. James lands a body punch. James has Ames pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. James pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Ames tumbling to the mat - James dives into Ames's guard. James throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Ames works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Ames looking to sweep here. No luck so far. James knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Ames on the ground. James chips away with some ground and pound. James has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Ames is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! James rolls with it to try and escape but Ames cranks on the arm and James is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
