PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Diego Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Diego Fagundes (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanchez is coming into this fight with a significant injury, which will no doubt have an effect on his cardio. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sanchez shoots in for a takedown but Fagundes shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Sanchez is breathing heavily. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Fagundes. Diego Sanchez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Fagundes changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sanchez tries to avoid it but Fagundes manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sanchez to the ground. Sanchez escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. No luck for Fagundes with that takedown attempt. Diego Sanchez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Diego Fagundes. Sanchez misses with a takedown attempt so Fagundes counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Fagundes works a leg free and moves into half guard. Fagundes is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Sanchez! Fagundes looking to control but Sanchez is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Poor strikes thrown by Fagundes there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!
Sanchez has left one of his arms exposed and Fagundes doesn't need a second invitation. He's isolated it and locked on a tight armbar. Sanchez screams and taps out, obviously in a lot of pain. Hopefully there isn't permanent damage to that arm.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:01 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Diego Fagundes!
