PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between William Wallace (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Crocell Satqiel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Crocell Satqiel will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, William Wallace!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Crocell Satqiel!
The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Robert Twigg and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Satqiel moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like William Wallace has been cut.

Satqiel closes the distance and pushes Wallace back into the cage.
Satqiel blocks a punch to the side of the head.

Satqiel breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Wallace fails with the takedown.
Wallace fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Wallace throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A combination from Satqiel does no damage.

Satqiel shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Satqiel controlling the pace.

Wallace looking for submissions off his back.
Wallace striking from the bottom.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Satqiel in particular looking to stall.

Satqiel is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Wallace is just riding it out for now. Satqiel eventually gives up the hold.

Satqiel is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Wallace is trying to stand up here but Satqiel is controlling him well.
Satqiel takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Satqiel thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wallace's head.
Satqiel is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
Wallace wants to control but Satqiel is keeping busy.
Wallace tries to roll over but Satqiel keeps him under control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Wallace looks to clinch

and Satqiel counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Wallace's guard now.
Wallace controls Satqiel momentarily but Satqiel frees himself.
Satqiel is pushing down on Wallace's leg trying to pass to half guard. Wallace is fighting to maintain full guard but Satqiel has managed to sneak the leg through.
Satqiel looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Satqiel takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
Satqiel is looking to stall here but Wallace recovers full guard.
Wallace can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Satqiel controls the pace.
Satqiel trying to control but Wallace is working from the bottom.
Satqiel throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.

Wallace being controlled here, momentarily.
Wallace not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Wallace is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Satqiel is controlling him.
Satqiel throwing strikes but missing.
Satqiel trying to control but Wallace is working from the bottom.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Satqiel lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Wallace walks into a jab.
Satqiel lands with a cross.
Wallace doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Satqiel counters with a nice uppercut.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for William Wallace. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Satqiel shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Satqiel showed some decent athleticism there.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Satqiel winds up and cracks Wallace with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Satqiel perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Satqiel thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Wallace's head.
Satqiel has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

William Wallace's cut is getting worse.
Wallace tries to hold on but Satqiel pushes him away.
Satqiel controlling the position easily from mount.
Wallace's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.
Wallace is breathing heavily.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Satqiel looking to control and managing it successfully.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Crocell Satqiel dominated that round.
The cut man is working on William Wallace's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Wallace wants to stand back up but Satqiel manages to pass into side control.
Satqiel works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Satqiel is looking to take a break and control but Wallace is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Despite being in the dominant position, Crocell Satqiel just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Wallace looks to clinch
and Satqiel counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.


William Wallace's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Wallace needs to keep his hands up - Satqiel had a free shot at his head there.

Wallace looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Wallace is stalling here. Satqiel is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Wallace seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Satqiel has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Wallace is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Satqiel has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Satqiel has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
A lull in the action here as Satqiel stalls from top position.
Wallace is looking to regain half guard here but Satqiel keeps moving and retains side control.
Wallace is working hard here to advance position.
Wallace is letting Satqiel control him for a moment.

Wallace might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Satqiel prevents Wallace from escaping the position.
Crocell Satqiel has got the better of the ground game so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Satqiel closes the distance and clinches.

Wallace doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Satqiel cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Satqiel swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Wallace.
Satqiel has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Wallace looks to score with a jab to the body but Satqiel is just out of range.
William Wallace seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

and Satqiel counters with a left to the body.

Jeez, William Wallace's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Satqiel lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Wallace circles away quickly and effectively.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at William Wallace's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
