PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Shooter McGavin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Akira Kurosawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kurosawa has chosen War drums as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Shooter McGavin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Akira Kurosawa!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Alec Ball and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
McGavin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Kurosawa swats him away and circles back towards the center.

McGavin closes the distance and clinches up with Kurosawa, looking for a takedown. McGavin pushes Kurosawa against the cage but Kurosawa circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

McGavin wants to clinch up but Kurosawa keeps it at a distance.

Kurosawa shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches McGavin napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Let's hope that Kurosawa has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

McGavin reaches up to try and control the position but Kurosawa seems to have an arm triangle now! Uh oh! McGavin rolls and tries to escape and now Kurosawa has his back!

McGavin is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

McGavin is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Kurosawa is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Kurosawa remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
McGavin is looking to get back to his feet here but Kurosawa is keeping cool and he's managed to take McGavin's back.
