PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Filip Matulewicz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Josh Reay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Matulewicz comes to the cage accompanied by GrubSon. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Filip Matulewicz!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Josh Reay!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Johanna Lukiainen and Roosa Järviläinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reay throws a head kick but Matulewicz moves out of range.

Matulewicz darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Reay is looking for a sweep. Matulewicz is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Matulewicz connects with a nice short shot to Reay's temple.

Reay pushes Matulewicz off and gets back to his feet.
Reay throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Matulewicz shoots for a double leg takedown but Reay sprawls well. He's pushed Matulewicz's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Matulewicz turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Matulewicz manages to end up in side control.

Reay stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Matulewicz swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Matulewicz wants to get back to his feet but Reay is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Reay decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Matulewicz, up you get!

Matulewicz looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Reay with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Matulewicz feints and as Reay raises his hands in defense, Matulewicz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Filip Matulewicz.
Well Matulewicz has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
