Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Leo Jay (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Artem Blinov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Artem Blinov!
The judges for this bout are Fedor Mirinova, Viktor Lagutenko and Aleksandr Martynov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jay displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Blinov.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jay swings around for an armbar but Blinov sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Jay's guard.

Blinov is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

and Jay counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Leo Jay has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Artem Blinov.
Jay wants to take a breather but Blinov is having none of it.

Jay has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jay stops Blinov from getting back to his feet.

Jay looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Blinov with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Jay rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

Blinov is looking to pass Jay's guard but actually Jay recovers to full guard.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!


Blinov moves in looking to clinch but Jay pushes him off.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jay connects with a nice short shot to Blinov's temple.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Jay seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Blinov does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Leo Jay showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Jay, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
