PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tank Halperin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerald Hans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Halperin comes to the cage accompanied by Somewhere Over the Rainbow. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gerald Hans!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Anthony Taglia and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Halperin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Hans to the mat! Hans manages to get full guard.
Halperin throws a big right hand that misses.
Halperin trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Hans is trying to keep Halperin in close.

Hans looking for a guillotine here but Halperin defends easily.
Hans not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Halperin could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Halperin connects with a couple of short punches.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Halperin looking to pass the guard.
Halperin is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Hans looking to hit a scissor sweep but Halperin is one step ahead there.

Hans lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Halperin!
Halperin is trying to escape the mount.
Hans with shots to the head and body - Halperin looks very uncomfortable down there.

Hans is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Halperin can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Halperin is trying to escape the mount.

Halperin knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hans on the ground.

Halperin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Halperin tries to get out of the position.
Hans throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Halperin because Hans loaded up on that one.

Hans takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Halperin keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Hans stands up from mount. Strange move.

and Halperin counters with a takedown into side control.
Hans manages to work his way to half guard, despite Halperin's best efforts.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

It looks like Gerald Hans has been cut.
Hans is not content to let Halperin control the position.
Hans is still in real trouble! Can Halperin finish him?

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Halperin takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Hans shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Halperin as he jumps to the side.
Tank Halperin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerald Hans.

Halperin closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Halperin lands in his opponent's guard.

Hans bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Halperin's guard.

Tank Halperin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Hans gets caught flat footed, as Halperin shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Hans is on top in guard.

Halperin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Hans manages to get himself to full guard.

Hans has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Halperin can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Hans is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Halperin rolls with it to try and escape but Hans cranks on the arm and Halperin is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
