Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ed Larson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Gable (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Larson comes to the cage accompanied by Headstrong by Trapt. The key to victory for Ed Larson has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ed Larson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Gable! The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Steve Montenegro and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Larson closes the distance and clinches up with Gable, looking for a takedown. Larson pushes Gable against the cage but Gable circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. Ed Larson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Larson has a takedown stuffed. Gable leaves Larson with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ed Larson. That's going to take a lot out of him. Larson tries to close the distance and clinch but Gable swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Gable shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Gable showed some decent athleticism there. Larson looking for submissions off his back. Gable slips a nice elbow through Larson's hands, connecting with Larson's forehead. Gable prevents Larson from improving his position. Gable content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Gable is keen to just control but Larson is a slippery customer. Larson is looking to improve his position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Gable lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Larson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Nice strikes from Gable there. Gable lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt. Gable wants to advance to full mount but Larson doesn't think that's going to happen and regains full guard instead. Gable trying to control but Larson is working from the bottom. Gable lands a couple of decent looking shots. Gable must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Larson tries to get out of the position. Gable landing with the ground and pound. Larson looking to sweep here. That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena. Gable looking to sit in guard and control but Larson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Larson drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gable manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Larson has Gable in his guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Larson looking for a guillotine here but Gable defends easily.

Larson misses with a takedown attempt and Gable counters with a nice double leg into guard. Gable seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Larson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

He'll be looking to tighten that up but Gable can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Gable advances to half guard. Gable working Larson over with strikes. The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Gable bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Larson tries to improve position but can't. Larson is not content to let Gable control the position. Larson is working to avoid the ground and pound but Gable connects with a decent elbow. Larson is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Gable landing strikes.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Larson tries to buck Gable off but Gable is having none of it. Gable looks up at the clock and then as Larson takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Gable smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Larson with a poor takedown and Gable counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Larson tries to land a sweep but no joy. Gable content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots. Gable's corner is telling him to maintain position. Gable throwing strikes but missing. Larson has momentary wrist control but Gable slips an elbow through the middle. Larson wants to sweep but no luck. Larson looking for a guillotine here but Gable defends easily.
Larson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
And that's the end of the fight! John Gable comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Gable has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
