Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vin Seppala! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Daniel Andersson! The judges for this bout are Aleksandr Martynov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Ivan Kurochkin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Seppala scores a takedown into full mount! Andersson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Seppala jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Andersson is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Andersson and Seppala has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Andersson struggling a bit here. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Seppala is looking to take a break and control but Andersson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Andersson is trying to control Seppala's posture but Seppala avoids it. Andersson is not content to let Seppala control the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Seppala sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Andersson is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
Andersson tries to get back to half guard but can't. Andersson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Seppala drives through with a takedown into guard. Andersson is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Andersson working for a triangle but Seppala defends it easily.
Andersson looks gassed! Andersson wants to sweep but no luck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Seppala wants to control from the top but Andersson keeps moving. Seppala wants to stand but Andersson has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Andersson is trying to keep Seppala in close.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Nice sprawl there from Andersson as Seppala shoots in. Andersson shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Seppala counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Andersson clinches but Seppala breaks the clinch and Seppala counters with a shoot takedown. Andersson fights it but they end up in guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Seppala is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Andersson is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Andersson has escaped and now he's on top! Seppala looking for a sweep. Not yet Seppala, not yet. Seppala managing to control the position. Seppala working for a triangle but Andersson defends it easily.

Andersson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Seppala. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Seppala bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Andersson's guard. Seppala advances position into side control! Andersson seems a little lost for a moment, as Seppala dominates the positioning. You can see the frustration on Andersson's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Andersson tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Seppala wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Andersson can't do much from the bottom here. Andersson is looking for a sweep. Andersson trying his best to control but Seppala has mounted him. Andersson throwing hammer fists to the chest of Seppala. What's that going to do exactly? Andersson slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Vin Seppala dominated that round. That's time! Back to the action!
Andersson wants to clinch but Seppala slips to the side and Seppala counters with a single leg into guard. Andersson didn't expect that. Seppala wants to control from the top but Andersson keeps moving. Seppala controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. Andersson looking for a sweep. Not yet Andersson, not yet. Andersson has control of Seppala's left arm, preventing Seppala from doing any damage. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Andersson looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Seppala passes into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Seppala stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round. Seppala thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Seppala lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Vin Seppala overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Seppala is looking to take a break and control but Andersson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Seppala is looking for a kimura but Andersson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Seppala to get the leverage. Seppala prevents Andersson from improving his position.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fight is doing enough on the ground. Seppala fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Andersson, pushing him back against the cage. Andersson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Seppala smiles and moves away.
Vin Seppala is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Seppala clinches but Andersson breaks the clinch and Andersson moves into the clinch.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Andersson stops a takedown attempt from Seppala.
Seppala gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Andersson regains guard.
Seppala trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet. Seppala gets to his feet - Andersson follows without any prompting. Seppala gets in close and instigates a clinch. Seppala escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Seppala decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Seppala lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. Andersson wants to control but Seppala is keeping busy and won't allow it. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Andersson can do anything to dispel that myth. Andersson looking for submissions off his back. Seppala is keen to just control but Andersson is a slippery customer. Andersson is looking to control Seppala's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Andersson avoid being mounted? Seppala is tying to control. Andersson wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Andersson moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Andersson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Seppala is one step ahead there.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Andersson feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Andersson stops Seppala from standing up. Seppala is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Seppala trying to keep a closed guard but Andersson is proving a slippery customer.
