PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Simon Cole (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bittor Xavier (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Xavier has chosen The Conqueror as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Horrible takedown by Cole or perhaps it was just good defense by Xavier which made him look bad.
Xavier lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Cole circles away quickly and effectively.
Cole tries to work over Xavier's front leg with a kick but Xavier checks it.
Xavier throws a shot from downtown. Cole moves away and avoids it.
Xavier ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cole moves away.
Xavier connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Xavier throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Cole shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Xavier pinned against the cage. Xavier gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Cole is looking to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Xavier rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Cole moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Xavier throws a jab when Cole was well out of range.
Cole checks a leg kick nicely.
Xavier takes a swing at Cole's ribcage but misses.

Cole tries to score a power double leg takedown but Xavier sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Cole somewhat.

Cole fails to land the takedown.
Cole shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Xavier sprawls well. Xavier wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Cole gets slowly back to his feet.
Cole looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Xavier attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.
Xavier fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Cole manages to avoid it.
Xavier lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Cole at a distance.

Cole shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Xavier sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
Xavier is trying to control but can't.
Cole tries to pass the half guard into mount. Xavier knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Xavier is trying to get back to full guard.
Cole has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Xavier is wriggling around trying to escape.
Cole avoids the attempt from Xavier to control.
Xavier is trying desperately to improve position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Xavier is squirming around, avoiding Cole's attempts to control the action.
Xavier sneaks a leg under to get to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Bittor Xavier dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Cole fails with a takedown attempt.
Cole shoots for a takedown but Xavier saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Xavier scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Cole changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Xavier tries to avoid it but Cole manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Xavier to the ground. Xavier escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Xavier slaps away a takedown attempt from Cole, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Xavier lands with an overhand left.
Cole fails with the takedown.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Xavier throws a left that rocks Cole and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Xavier dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Cole regain composure!

Cole is rocked!

Xavier is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Cole looks calm but he's in trouble here. Xavier gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Cole is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Xavier lets go of the hold and Cole can pop his arm back in it's socket.
