The judges for this bout are Shigeki Sano, Kenichi Hosakawa and Yukihiro Shimada.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grotesk gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
G trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Grotesk knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for G on the ground.
Grotesk utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

G sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Grotesk's guard.
G has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Horrible takedown by G or perhaps it was just good defense by Grotesk which made him look bad.
G shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Grotesk counters with a big slam. G looks out but Grotesk is landing strikes to his unconscious opponent! Eventually the ref steps in to save G from any more punishment. A brutal conclusion to the fight!
