Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Paul Evans (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Damian Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Ain't no rest for the wicked.. Damian Penn has the eye of the tiger tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Evans! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Damian Penn! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Daniel Bishop and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Penn has a takedown stuffed. Evans stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Evans wants it to stay on the feet. No luck for Penn with that takedown attempt. Paul Evans has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Damian Penn. Penn fails with a takedown attempt. Penn fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Evans avoids it really well and circles away. Nice takedown defense from Evans. No joy for Penn on that attempt. Evans tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Evans connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there. Evans fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Evans sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Penn's guard. Penn is pressing down on Evans's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure. Evans thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Penn's head. Evans thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Evans lands strikes from half guard. Evans looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Penn with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position. Penn is looking for a sweep. Evans is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Ground and pound from Evans. Penn trying to control but Evans postures up.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Evans not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Evans connects with a nice short shot to Penn's temple. Evans thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Evans missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Evans gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Penn to score an easy takedown into full guard. Evans wants to stand and escape but Penn is having none of it. Penn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Evans swivels though and keeps the full guard.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Penn drops back, looking for a kneebar! Evans looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Evans looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Evans! Penn managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Evans.
Evans tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily. Evans tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Evans is chipping away with strikes.
Evans lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Penn throws Evans to one side and escapes! Evans looks to land a combination but Penn avoids it well. Evans looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Penn. Evans scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Paul Evans dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

Paul Evans is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Penn will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Evans misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Evans closes the distance and pushes Penn back into the cage. Evans jumps into guard, dragging Penn to the mat.

Evans looks up at the clock and then as Penn takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Evans smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!

Damian Penn seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Evans moves into the clinch. Evans jumps guard and drags Penn to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Penn postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Evans is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Penn, into his guard. Evans scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Evans trying to control but Penn is working from the bottom. Evans throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Penn's head. Penn fails with the takedown and Evans counters with a slapping leg kick. Evans is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Penn's half guard. Penn blocking the ground and pound attempt from Evans. Evans missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Penn shoots and misses and Evans counters with a nice low kick that buckles Penn's knee momentarily. Evans shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Penn moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Evans makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard. Penn preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Evans wants to get up but he can't break Penn's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Evans has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Penn has his foot on Evans's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Evans works his way back into a safe position though. Penn has a closed guard, preventing Evans from standing up. Penn working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Evans doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Evans manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
