Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Carl Lawson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Peterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peterson has chosen Even Flow by Pearl Jam as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Eric Peterson acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peterson takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.
Peterson avoids the head kick by Lawson.
Lawson uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Peterson.

Peterson gets a clinch.

Peterson's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A combination from Lawson does no damage.
Peterson takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.
Peterson walks into a jab.
Peterson shoots in but no luck this time.
Peterson takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Peterson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Lawson's guard.

Peterson is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Lawson can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Peterson wants to finish this one by submission but Lawson is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Peterson.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Peterson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Peterson is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
Lawson is looking to stand up but Peterson isn't so interested in that idea.
Peterson passes Lawson's left leg - he's now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Peterson content to control rather than advance.

Peterson uses his free foot to push down on Lawson's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Lawson.

Peterson has control of Lawson's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Lawson regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Peterson shoots for a double leg takedown but Lawson sprawls well. He's pushed Peterson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Lawson lands with a nice combination. Peterson backs away looking to recover.

Peterson throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Lawson's waist but Lawson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Peterson off to one side.

Peterson changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Lawson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Lawson has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Peterson is working away from the top position though.

Lawson wants to control but Peterson is keeping busy and won't allow it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Peterson looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Lawson is fending him off so far but Peterson persists. Nope, Lawson circles away and we're back to standing.
Peterson tries to close the distance and clinch but Lawson swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Lawson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Peterson moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Carl Lawson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Lawson avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Peterson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Lawson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Lawson scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Lawson stalks Peterson and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Peterson's face. Peterson staggers backwards, shaken.
