The bell rings for round one and we are underway! cockren wants to clinch. Zumbehl defends well against a solid takedown attempt from cockren. cockren fails to land the takedown. cockren looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Zumbehl is fending him off so far but cockren persists. Nope, Zumbehl circles away and we're back to standing. Charles Zumbehl has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of jon cockren. The fight stays on the outside here - cockren looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Zumbehl keeps the fight on the outside. Zumbehl throws a right and a left that cockren avoids nicely. cockren clinches up with Zumbehl and pushes him back against the cage. cockren throws an elbow but it misses.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. cockren is pressed up against the cage. Zumbehl has hold of a leg and is looking to drag cockren down to the mat. cockren avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance. cockren is looking to clinch. cockren shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Zumbehl stuffs the takedown attempt from cockren. cockren gets slowly back to his feet. Zumbehl gets the takedown into side control.

Zumbehl sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but cockren is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The strikes coming from Zumbehl are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. cockren is in a bad spot here and he knows it... just holding on for now. The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up. Zumbehl shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches cockren napping and manages to drive through into side control! Zumbehl in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
