With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Raphael Paiva!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Dean Styles and Joseph Jones.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Paiva scores with a sloppy right hand. Tretiak should have avoided that one.

Tretiak looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Tretiak wants to get back to striking at distance but Paiva won't allow it.

This has been an exciting period of action!

Paiva breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Tretiak misses with a looping left.
Paiva stuns Tretiak with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Paiva lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.

Paiva clinches.
Paiva makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Paiva goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Paiva lands a nice shot to the body.

Paiva breaks from the clinch.
Tretiak is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Paiva.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Raphael Paiva dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Paiva jabs away that one connects to the head of his opponent.
Tretiak avoids the body shot from Paiva.
Tretiak throws a combination that misses
enabling Paiva to counter with a crisp jab.
Paiva scores with a shot to the body.
Paiva fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Paiva tries to clinch up but Tretiak circles away and keeps his distance.
Tretiak takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

and Paiva counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Paiva closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Tretiak avoids the body shot from Paiva.
Paiva scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Tretiak shoots in for a takedown but Paiva shows good takedown defense.

Paiva moves away from the strike by Tretiak.
Paiva scores with a jab. Tretiak acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Tretiak gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
The fight stays on the outside here - Paiva looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Tretiak throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Paiva counters with a one-two to the body.
Raphael Paiva is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Tretiak gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Paiva counters with a nice uppercut.

Tretiak changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Paiva looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
You can see the frustration on Paiva's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Paiva is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Tretiak asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Tretiak has hold of Paiva's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Paiva tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Tretiak cranks the arm and Paiva screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Paiva, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:04 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Vladimir Tretiak!
