Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Chan Wathan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Genki Sodo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chan Wathan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Genki Sodo! The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Ren Mimura and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! A combination from Sodo does no damage. Wathan scores with a takedown into Sodo's guard. Sodo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Wathan is controlling him. Sodo keeping moving, preventing Wathan from controlling successfully. Wathan working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Wathan trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Sodo manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! Sodo trying to control the position from guard on top but Wathan is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Wathan managing to control the position. Sodo postures up.
That's one minute gone in the round. Wathan bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Sodo's guard. Wathan prevents Sodo from getting back to his feet. Sodo is trying to hold Wathan in close to prevent damage but Wathan has managed to pass into half guard.
Sodo wants to get back to his feet. Wathan wants to stand up but Sodo is controlling the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Wathan throws a left and a right that both miss
so Sodo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Wathan is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Sodo tries to stand but Wathan is controlling from the bottom. Sodo looks gassed! Wathan manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Sodo wants to get back to his feet. Wathan is persistently looking for the submission but Sodo is defending it well.
Sodo manages to reverse the position and now he's in Wathan's guard. Nice work there by Sodo.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Wathan manages to escape and get back to his feet! Wathan clinches with his opponent.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chan Wathan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Sodo lands a shoulder strike. Sodo digs a right hand into Wathan's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Wathan's gas tank. Sodo wants to break the clinch but can't.

Wathan has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Sodo is trying to keep an underhook but Wathan manages to get the takedown into half guard. Wathan wants to control but Sodo is keeping him busy. Well, if Wathan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Sodo is in trouble now - Wathan has advanced to mount! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Chan Wathan dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Wathan stalks Sodo and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Sodo's face. Sodo staggers backwards, shaken. Sodo looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Wathan looks to clinch and Sodo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wathan's guard. Sodo stands up from guard. Let's bang! Chan Wathan seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Wathan swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Sodo counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body. Wathan throws a lazy head kick and Wathan takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Wathan throws a body kick the misses and Sodo counters with a two punch combo. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Wathan closes the distance looking to clinch and Sodo decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Wathan's guard. Sodo wants to get up but he can't break Wathan's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sodo thows a big elbow that misses. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Sodo looking to control the position here, rather than advance. Genki Sodo has got the better of the ground game so far. Sodo stands up from Wathan's guard - Sodo perhaps looking for a knockout. Wathan shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Sodo counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. Wathan walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush. Sodo falls off balance throwing a combination
and Wathan counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Wathan wants to stand and escape but instead Sodo has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard. Wathan wants to sweep but no luck.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Wathan is looking to stand up but Sodo isn't so interested in that idea. Wathan manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Sodo bucks Wathan off and manages to get back to his feet! We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Sodo takes a body punch but keeps moving. Wathan avoids a punch combination nicely.

Wathan gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Sodo counters with a three punch combo that has Wathan backing up. Wathan nods at Sodo to acknowledge the strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Sodo tries to close the distance and clinch but Wathan swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Chan Wathan is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Wathan throws a head kick that misses and Sodo counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Wathan throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Sodo gets to his feet. Wathan looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son! Wathan throws a combination that misses and Sodo moves into the clinch. Sodo manages to break the clinch.
Sodo clinches. Wathan wants to break the clinch but can't.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Chan Wathan. That's going to take a lot out of him. Wathan has had enough of the clinch but Sodo keeps him there for the moment. Wathan changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Sodo fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Wathan throws a leg kick that is checked and Sodo counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Wathan's guard now. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Sodo won't allow Wathan to sweep him here. Wathan working a defensive guard here.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Wathan tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Wathan breaks from Sodo's wrist control and lands an elbow. Wathan is working close to his opponent, looking to work a submission by the looks of things. Oh, he's managed to get a guillotine from mount as his opponent reached up! That looks tiiiiight! Will he tap? YES, he's tapped! Impressive submission by Wathan!
