Wood works Hilo's body with a nice hook.
Hilo fails with a takedown attempt.
Hilo misses with a body punch
and Wood makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
A nice leg kick lands there from Hilo.
Wood takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
Johnny Hilo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Wood tries to score with a low kick but Hilo moves his leg out of the way.

Hilo fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Wood.
Hilo is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Wood.

Wood shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Wood tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Hilo tries to score a power double leg takedown but Wood sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Hilo somewhat.

and Wood counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena.
Wood uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Hilo.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Hilo lands a jab-cross combination.
Wood buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Wood lands a nice hook to Hilo's body. Hilo takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
A solid leg kick lands there for Hilo.
Hilo works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Hilo throws a shot from downtown. Wood moves away and avoids it.
Wood motions for Hilo to come forward. Wood throws a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Hilo closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Wood to the mat! Wood manages to get full guard.

Wood is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Hilo is desperately trying to improve his position but Wood has a good base and remains in mount.
Wood takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Hilo is squirming around, avoiding Wood's attempts to control the action.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Wood really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hilo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That was a close round but I would say that Johnny Hilo will probably get the nod.

and Wood counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Wood moves out of range as Hilo throws a body kick.
Hilo dives in and grabs Wood's left leg, looking for a takedown. Wood pushes down on Hilo's head and hops out.
Wood slips a jab from Hilo.
Hilo shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Wood as he jumps to the side.
Wood pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Hilo lands a nice leg kick that just misses Wood's sensitive parts.

No joy there for Hilo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hilo lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Hilo accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Hilo is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Wood is just riding it out for now. Hilo eventually gives up the hold.

Hilo smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.

Wood feints and then cracks Hilo's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Hilo down.

and Hilo counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Hilo.

Hilo stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wood swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Hilo thows a huge punch but Wood dodges it nicely.
Hilo looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Wood with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Wood is staying active underneath Hilo, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Hilo passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Wood!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Hilo tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Hilo takes Wood's back. Could be looking for a rear naked choke here - either way, Wood is in trouble.

Hilo is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Wood reverses the position - he's now on top in Hilo's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hilo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Wood doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Wood manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
