Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Michael Hopp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jamal Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Michael Hopp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jamal Johnson!
The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Dillan Fox and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Hopp looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Johnson connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Johnson throws a jab when Hopp was well out of range.
Johnson lands a nice shot to the body.
Johnson throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.


It looks like Michael Hopp has been cut.
Johnson throws a hook but Hopp avoids it easily.
Johnson lands an overhand right.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
A jab from Johnson misses.

Hopp takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.

Hopp staying out of range there.
Johnson is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Hopp.
Hopp shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Johnson but Johnson pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Johnson, as that shot connected.
Hopp looks for a takedown but Johnson sprawls well.
Hopp has a takedown stuffed.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Hopp. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Hopp circles away from the clinch attempt

so Hopp counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Johnson pulls Hopp in to control the position.
Johnson is looking to stand up but Hopp isn't so interested in that idea.
Hopp wants to pass the guard but Johnson is keeping the position.
Hopp slips nicely into half guard.

Hopp is looking for a kimura but Johnson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Hopp to get the leverage.

Hopp seems to be looking for submissions.
Johnson is trying to stand back up but Hopp is controlling him
Hopp trying to mount his opponent but Johnson defends it.
Hopp scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Hopp is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Johnson is just riding it out for now. Hopp eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Hopp is looking to take a break and control but Johnson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hopp thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Johnson to regain full guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Hopp pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Johnson is keeping the position for now.
Hopp wants to control from the top but Johnson keeps moving.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hopp walks into a left hand.
Johnson throws a lazy body kick

and Hopp counters with a nice double leg into side control. Johnson won't be happy with that.
Johnson is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Hopp asserts his dominance and retains side control.
Johnson gets back to half guard.

Hopp is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Johnson doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Hopp.
Hopp is trying to control the action in half guard but Johnson is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Johnson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hopp is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Johnson!

Hopp goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Johnson is on top in guard.
Hopp wants to control the position but Johnson says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Hopp manages to get to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hopp can't keep his opponent in guard - Johnson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Johnson slips a nice elbow through Hopp's hands, connecting with Hopp's forehead.
Hopp regains full guard. Nicely done.

Hopp is trying to hold Johnson in close to prevent damage but Johnson has managed to pass into half guard.
Johnson tries to pass the half guard into mount. Hopp knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Hopp is in trouble now - Johnson has advanced to mount!

Johnson has the hooks in. Hopp is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Will Johnson go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?
Johnson might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Hopp kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Johnson doesn't have the hooks in and Hopp manages to turn into his guard.
Hopp is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Johnson stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Johnson wants it to stay on the feet.
Hopp throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Johnson's waist but Johnson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hopp off to one side.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jamal Johnson showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Hopp tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Johnson paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Johnson misses with an uppercut.
Johnson connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Hopp momentarily.
Hopp fails with a takedown attempt.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Hopp's head.
Hopp closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Johnson lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Johnson might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

Hopp fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Johnson avoids it really well and circles away.
Johnson bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Hopp's head backwards.
Johnson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hopp circles away quickly and effectively.
Johnson slaps away a takedown attempt from Hopp, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Michael Hopp. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Hopp moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Hopp has clasped his hands together around Johnson's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
Hopp is looking to take a break and control but Johnson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Johnson takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Hopp throws a strike aimed at the side of Johnson's head but Johnson avoids it well.
Johnson tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Hopp throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
