0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Lyoto Machida! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Wesley Smith.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Minotauro shoots in for a takedown but Machida shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Machida looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Minotauro! Machida blocks Minotauro's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom. Minotauro can't escape the position.
Machida trying to control but Minotauro is having none of it. Minotauro knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Machida on the ground. Minotauro is looking to get to half guard. Minotauro on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Minotauro tries to get out of the position. Minotauro tries to hold on but Machida postures up. Minotauro wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Machida thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent. Minotauro holding both Machida 's hands and preventing any damage. Machida tightening his grip on Minotauro, looking for the choke. I really don't envy Minotauro right now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Minotauro just trying to survive but Machida is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish. Minotauro is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Machida is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Minotauro is defending well here and trying to improve his position.
Minotauro is trying to stand back up. Machida struggling to land strikes to the head as Minotauro covers up. Minotauro staying busy and making it hard for Machida to control. Machida looks gassed! The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. You can see the frustration on Minotauro's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Lyoto Machida dominated that round. The cut man is working on Preuss Minotauro's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Machida swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Preuss Minotauro is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Minotauro fails with an attempt to clinch.
Minotauro shoots in but doesn't get the takedown so Machida counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Machida drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Minotauro manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Machida has Minotauro in his guard. Minotauro thows a big elbow that misses. Machida is breathing heavily. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Machida is on top in guard.
Minotauro is looking for a triangle but Machida pushes his legs off easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Minotauro pulls Machida in close to his closed guard and prevents Machida from doing any damage or advancing position. Minotauro's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Machida postures up in Minotauro's guard and throws a big left but Minotauro blocks it.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Machida avoids a punch combination nicely.

and Machida counters with a single leg into guard. Minotauro didn't expect that. Minotauro is controlling Machida's posture. Machida won't allow Minotauro to sweep him here. Machida being controlled here momentarily. Minotauro not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Minotauro is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage. Minotauro has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Machida can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Lyoto Machida has got the better of the ground game so far. Machida postures up.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Minotauro fails to land with a series of punches.
Minotauro looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Minotauro misses with a takedown and Machida counters with a head kick. That will keep Minotauro thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Preuss Minotauro. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Minotauro with a lazy takedown attempt and Machida counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Minotauro! Machida landing punches. Lyoto Machida showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The cut man is working on Preuss Minotauro's cut. That's time! Minotauro's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Machida pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Minotauro tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Machida paws at him with a jab and circles away. Minotauro throws a series of punches but Machida avoids them all with ease. Machida shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Minotauro napping and manages to drive through into side control! The referee tells the fighters to keep busy. Minotauro can't do much from the bottom here. Minotauro dodges the ground and pound from Machida. Minotauro can't do much from the bottom here. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Machida tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Minotauro tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Machida wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. Machida working away. Minotauro is looking for a sweep.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Minotauro has his takedown stuffed and Machida counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Minotauro is lucky that one didn't land flush. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Preuss Minotauro. That's going to take a lot out of him. Machida moves forwards but Minotauro connects with a nice, crisp jab. Minotauro shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Machida as he avoids it easily. No luck with that takedown attempt from Minotauro. A telegraphed takedown attempt from Minotauro is defended easily by Machida.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Machida scores a takedown into full mount! Minotauro is trying to reverse the position but instead Machida has taken his back - oops! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Machida is trying to stick to Minotauro's back but Minotauro is turning into Machida. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Machida's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Minotauro. Minotauro sitting in guard, not really doing much. Machida controls Minotauro momentarily but Minotauro frees himself. Minotauro controlling from the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Minotauro wants to pass the guard but Machida is keeping the position. Minotauro has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Minotauro not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Machida looking to hit a scissor sweep but Minotauro is one step ahead there. Minotauro postures up in Machida's guard and throws a big left but Machida blocks it. Minotauro wants to control from the top but Machida keeps moving.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Machida preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Machida with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Minotauro to score with a decent uppercut. Minotauro shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Minotauro was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Minotauro thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Preuss Minotauro has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Minotauro putting on the heat here with some good ground and pound! Machida is looking to improve his position but Minotauro isn't that keen on the idea. Lyoto Machida is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Minotauro pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
And that's the end of the fight! That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Preuss Minotauro. I think Machida has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
