Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Vorodin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jari Yzinorivich! The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Vladimir Khabensky and Illya Tyunina.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Yzinorivich connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Vorodin's hands. Vorodin shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Yzinorivich sprawls well. Yzinorivich wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Vorodin gets slowly back to his feet. Vorodin shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Yzinorivich as he jumps to the side. Jari Yzinorivich seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Vorodin takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Yzinorivich lands a nice hook to Vorodin's body. Vorodin takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Yzinorivich pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Vorodin closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Vorodin is breathing heavily. Yzinorivich looking to land some kicks to the body here.
Vorodin keeps the fight on the outside. Yzinorivich cracks Vorodin with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Vorodin looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Yzinorivich finish him?
Vorodin is rocked! Yzinorivich tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Yzinorivich is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Yzinorivich fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Vorodin is out of range. Yzinorivich defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Vorodin. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ivan Vorodin. That's going to take a lot out of him. Yzinorivich throws a push kick but Vorodin slaps the foot to one side. Yzinorivich lands with a big right hook that stumbles Vorodin - he's out on his feet here! Yzinorivich follows up with another monster hook that separates Vorodin from consciousness! Vorodin falls, almost in slow motion to the canvas! Yzinorivich stands and admires his work as the crowd go wild.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Jari Yzinorivich!
