1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Gabriel Roderiz! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Leandro Rodrigues and Paulo Santos.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Roderiz connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
It looks like Gringo Spanish has been cut. Roderiz fails with an attempt to clinch.
Roderiz tries to clinch but Spanish moves out of range. Roderiz scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard. Spanish really is a fat lump. Spanish scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Spanish controls the position. Spanish scoring with punches from side control. Roderiz is looking to reverse the position. Roderiz sneaks back into half guard. Roderiz is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Spanish scores with a couple of nice shots. Roderiz is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two. Nice strikes from Spanish there. Spanish slows the pace down in half guard. Roderiz is trying to stand up here but Spanish is controlling him well. Roderiz looks gassed!

Spanish passes the guard and advances to mount! The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Spanish working the ground and pound effectively.
Spanish content just to control the position here. Spanish breaks from Roderiz's wrist control and lands an elbow.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Spanish controlling the pace for now. Spanish avoids the attempt from Roderiz to control. Roderiz is wriggling around trying to escape.
Spanish has hold of Roderiz's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Roderiz manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

Roderiz defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Spanish. Spanish tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Spanish throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Roderiz is trying desperately to improve position. Spanish wants to finish this one by submission but Roderiz is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Spanish. Spanish has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Gringo Spanish just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Roderiz tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Spanish paws at him with a jab and circles away. The fight stays on the outside here - Roderiz looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Roderiz looks to land a combination. Spanish sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Left hook, right uppercut from Roderiz. Roderiz doesn't manage to clinch there - Spanish circles away.

Spanish takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it. Roderiz looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Spanish gets the takedown into side control. Spanish stands up and beckons Roderiz to his feet. Gringo Spanish is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Spanish throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Roderiz. Roderiz tries to close the distance and clinch but Spanish swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Roderiz lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Spanish throws a hook but Roderiz avoids it easily. Good standup being displayed there by Roderiz as he connects with a hook. Spanish looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Spanish sitting in guard, not really doing much.

Spanish decides to return to a standing position. Donk. Roderiz catches Spanish right on the button with a cross. Roderiz doesn't manage to clinch there - Spanish circles away.

Roderiz gets caught flat footed, as Spanish shoots in with a quick takedown into guard. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! Roderiz is looking to stand up but Spanish isn't so interested in that idea. Spanish controls from within his opponent's guard.

Spanish tries to free his leg and advance position but Roderiz is retaining full guard. Spanish is stalling in the full guard. Roderiz wants to get back to his feet but Spanish passes into half guard.

Roderiz scores with a shot to the side of Spanish's head. Roderiz gets through Spanish's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head. Roderiz prevents a takedown attempt there.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Roderiz is positioning himself to get back to half guard. Spanish prevents Roderiz from escaping the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Spanish staying calm. Spanish trying to control the action but Roderiz is working from the bottom. Roderiz bucks up and tries to throw Spanish off but instead Spanish has got his back! Spanish biding his time, controlling Roderiz.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Spanish gets his hooks in and is throwing strikes. Spanish missing with strikes. Roderiz looking to stop the rear naked choke attempt by controlling the hands. Spanish controlling from the back.
The referee stands the fighters back up. Gringo Spanish just wasn't active enough from the dominant position. Spanish is looking to clinch but Roderiz is avoiding it.
Spanish tries to clinch up but Roderiz circles away and keeps his distance. Spanish changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Roderiz tries to avoid it but Spanish manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Roderiz to the ground. Roderiz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Spanish swats away the attempt to clinch by Roderiz. Roderiz catches Spanish with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
And that's the end of the fight! Gringo Spanish showed his dominance in that final round. I think Spanish has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
