Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Juan Noelan! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Tim Fedor! The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Noelan closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth. Fedor defending against the ground and pound. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Noelan in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time. Fedor is looking for a sweep. Fedor stops Noelan from passing to mount. Noelan is working hard here to advance position. Fedor is trying to improve his position. Noelan is looking to take a break and control but Fedor is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Fedor misses with a jab, cross combination.
Fedor looks to land a right hand but Noelan moved out of range. Fedor doesn't succeed with the takedown and Noelan counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Fedor is looking for a sweep. Noelan is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Fedor moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Fedor had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Noelan defends it easily. Noelan is in close to Fedor's body, working some short punches and elbows. Fedor keeping moving, preventing Noelan from controlling successfully. Noelan got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fedor has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Noelan has managed to get both his arms back between Fedor's legs - danger averted. Noelan decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Fedor, up you get! Fedor misses with a takedown and Noelan counters with a single leg into guard. Fedor didn't expect that. Noelan is sitting in close to Fedor's body. Fedor has gone for a guillotine from the bottom. Oh damn, that looks pretty tight! Noelan is panicking - it looks like this one could be all over! Yes, Noelan is tapping! That was a very nice submission by Fedor.
