Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between David Ryan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boris Jeltzin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Boris Jeltzin is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Ryan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Boris Jeltzin!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksei Zolotukhin and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ryan with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Ryan throws a right hand that Jeltzin ducks under and follows up with a left that Jeltzin also avoids with ease.
A punch combination from Ryan misses.
Ryan fails with the takedown.
Jeltzin swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Ryan counters with a single leg into guard. Jeltzin didn't expect that.
Ryan postures up.
Ryan working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.

Jeltzin escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Ryan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Jeltzin working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Ryan.
Ryan keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Jeltzin's head.


Jeltzin is rocked!
Ryan trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Jeltzin is still in real trouble! Can Ryan finish him?
Jeltzin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Ryan controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Jeltzin seems to have recovered his senses.

Ryan trying to control but Jeltzin is working from the bottom.
Jeltzin not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jeltzin looks gassed!

Jeltzin working for a triangle but Ryan defends it easily.
Jeltzin is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Ryan works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Ryan scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Ryan seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Ryan has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Jeltzin looks like he's trying to stand up.
Ground and pound from Ryan.

Ryan tries to pass to full mount but Jeltzin defends it.
Jeltzin tries to get to full guard but Ryan has control of the leg.

Ryan is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Jeltzin has managed to free his arm - good work.

Jeltzin is looking to control Ryan's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jeltzin avoid being mounted?
Ryan thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jeltzin's head.
Jeltzin gets back to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jeltzin lands a couple of shots from the bottom.

Jeltzin manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Ryan wants to hold on but Jeltzin pushes him away.
Ryan is looking to get to half guard.
Ryan in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Jeltzin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Ryan looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Ryan just trying to survive but Jeltzin is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.
Jeltzin controlling well, preventing Ryan from escaping the position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Ryan is covering up but some of the strikes from Jeltzin are getting through and doing damage.
Ryan breaks Jeltzin's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Ryan in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Ryan missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

Ryan cracks Jeltzin with a solid left hand.
Jeltzin should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Ryan is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.
Ryan wants to control from the top but Jeltzin keeps moving.
Jeltzin can't keep his opponent in guard - Ryan advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Well, if Ryan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Ryan frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Ryan looking to control and managing it successfully.
Ryan working the ground and pound effectively.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

David Ryan dominated that round.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.


Jeltzin tries to clinch but Ryan moves out of range.
Ryan tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.

Ryan closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Ryan wants a takedown but no success here.
Jeltzin gets underhooks to prevent Ryan's takedown attempt.
Ryan tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Jeltzin just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for David Ryan. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Ryan is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Jeltzin is keeping busy.

Ryan pulls Jeltzin into guard.
Ryan trying to keep a closed guard but Jeltzin is proving a slippery customer.

Ryan keeping moving, preventing Jeltzin from controlling successfully.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Ryan is on top in guard.
Ryan trying to control but Jeltzin is working from the bottom.
Jeltzin preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Ryan postures up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Ryan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Ryan slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Ryan landing strikes.

Ryan works to advance to full mount. Jeltzin defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Ryan wants to finish this one by submission but Jeltzin is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Ryan.
Ryan fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Jeltzin bucks up and throws Ryan to the side - he's got back to his feet. Great escape!
Ryan misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Ryan clinches up against the cage.
Ryan tries to pull guard but Jeltzin won't allow it.
A nice left hand lands by Ryan.

Jeltzin manages to break the clinch.
Jeltzin misses with a takedown attempt
and Ryan counters with an inside leg kick.
This has been an exciting period of action!
It's a brutal combination of punches from Ryan! Jeltzin is backing up but he can't get away as Ryan lands with one final shot to the jaw that drops Jeltzin and ends the fight. Great knockout.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). David Ryan!
