Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
5 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Julian Reis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Eduardo Duplan! The judges for this bout are Daniel Cesar, Emerson Jorge and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Reis tries for a takedown but Duplan sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Duplan swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Duplan moves into the clinch. Duplan lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Reis. Reis drops down looking for an ankle pick but Duplan pulls his leg out and moves away.
Reis shoots for a double leg takedown but Duplan sprawls well. He's pushed Reis's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Julian Reis. That's going to take a lot out of him. Duplan cracks Reis with a big right hand and Reis goes down!
It looks like Julian Reis has been cut. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Reis is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Duplan sitting in guard here, content to control. Duplan's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Reis looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Duplan passes into side control.
Reis being controlled for a moment.
That's one minute gone in the round. Reis tries to bench press Duplan off him but Duplan keeps the position. Duplan controls the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Reis is looking to reverse the position. Duplan decides to take the fight back to the feet. Duplan misses with the combination.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Duplan, as that shot connected.
Duplan misses with a body shot.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Reis showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Duplan.
Reis looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Duplan is throwing a storm of strikes! Right hook, left hook and follows it up with a spinning back fist! Reis hits the canvas like a rag doll! And just like that, this one is over!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:26 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Eduardo Duplan!
