Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Kazuo Takeda (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Swanson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kazuo Takeda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Joe Swanson!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Frank Antenori and .




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Swanson throws a big shot that misses.
Takeda slips a straight right by Swanson.
Takeda takes a swing at Swanson's ribcage but misses.
A head kick misses from Takeda.
Swanson lands a nice shot to the body.
Takeda avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Swanson cracks Takeda with a right hand to the side of the head.
Swanson throws a good cross that connects.
Swanson lands a slapping body shot.
Takeda moves out of range as Swanson strikes.
A swing and a miss from Takeda.

Swanson feints and as Takeda raises his hands in defense, Swanson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Takeda preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Takeda can't keep his opponent in guard - Swanson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Swanson prevents Takeda from improving his position.

Takeda wants to get back to full guard but Swanson has passed into side control.
Swanson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Takeda is looking to escape.
Swanson pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Takeda holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Swanson tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Takeda looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!
Takeda covers up after taking a massive shot to the side of the head.
You can see the frustration on Takeda's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Swanson controls the action.

Swanson is looking for the choke from the back position but Takeda is controlling his hands well.

Takeda turns into Swanson and is now in his guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Takeda accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Swanson can't keep his opponent in guard - Takeda advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Takeda throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Still in half guard, Takeda seems content to control.

Takeda is looking for a kimura here.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Takeda thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Swanson's head.

Takeda is working for a kimura but Swanson is defending it quite comfortably.
Swanson keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Takeda avoids a punch combination nicely.

Takeda gets caught flat footed, as Swanson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Takeda trying to keep a closed guard but Swanson is proving a slippery customer.
Takeda wants to hit a switch here but Swanson passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Takeda there!
Swanson avoids the attempt from Takeda to control.

Swanson throwing strikes from the back - he gets a warning from the referee for striking the back of the head but all these shots are hurting Takeda!

Swanson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Takeda works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Takeda manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Swanson manages to get himself to full guard.
Swanson is trying to control the position but Takeda postures up.
Takeda wants to control from the top but Swanson keeps moving.
Takeda looking to sit in guard and control but Swanson gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Takeda is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Takeda bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Swanson wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!

A close second round but Joe Swanson will probably get the nod - 10:9.

Swanson ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Takeda moves away.
Swanson ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Takeda throws a front kick aimed at Swanson's knee but Swanson avoids it well.
A big right from Takeda misses.
Takeda pivots, looking for a leg kick but Swanson is out of range and Takeda settles back down.
Swanson uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Takeda.
A slow jab from Swanson misses its intended target.
Takeda fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Swanson manages to avoid it.
Joe Swanson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Swanson throws a jab when Takeda was well out of range.

and Swanson counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Swanson trying to control the position from guard on top but Takeda is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Takeda looking for a sweep. Not yet Takeda, not yet.
Swanson wants to control from the top but Takeda keeps moving.
Takeda bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Swanson's guard.
Takeda pushing down on Swanson's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Takeda has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Swanson is desperately trying to improve his position but Takeda has a good base and remains in mount.
Swanson blocking the ground and pound.

Swanson is trying to get back to his feet but can't.
Takeda trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Takeda is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Swanson has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Swanson!

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

It looks like Kazuo Takeda has been cut.
Swanson in side control lands a decent elbow.

Joe Swanson comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Swanson has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
