Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Conrad Kirkland!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Brooks!
The judges for this bout are Alan Glass, Wesley Smith and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Brooks is defended easily by Kirkland.
Nice sprawl there from Kirkland as Brooks shoots in.
Nice body punch from Kirkland.
Kirkland stuffs the takedown.
Conrad Kirkland has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Brooks.
Brooks throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Kirkland's waist but Kirkland gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Brooks off to one side.
Kirkland defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Brooks.
Kirkland scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Brooks shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kirkland pinned against the cage. Kirkland gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Brooks will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Kirkland leaves Brooks with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Kirkland tries to bum rush Brooks with a series of wild strikes but Brooks uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Kirkland fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Kirkland thows a body shot but no joy.
Brooks on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Brooks fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Brooks tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Kirkland swivels and escapes.
Kirkland looks to land a combination. Brooks sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Kirkland moves into range and connects with a jab.
Kirkland lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Kirkland lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Brooks takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Kirkland takes a swing at Brooks's ribcage but misses.
A left lands for Kirkland.
Brooks moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Kirkland lands a two punch combo.
Brooks fails with a takedown attempt.
Kirkland lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Kirkland throws a right hand that Brooks ducks under and follows up with a left that Brooks also avoids with ease.
Kirkland cracks a nice hook into Brooks's ribs.
Kirkland swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Brooks.
Kirkland swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Brooks dives in and grabs Kirkland's left leg, looking for a takedown. Kirkland pushes down on Brooks's head and hops out.
Kirkland scores with a punch to the head.
Brooks walks into a stiff left hand from Kirkland.
Kirkland fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Brooks avoids a punch combination nicely.
Conrad Kirkland is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kirkland digs a good body shot into Brooks's ribs.

Kirkland stuffs the takedown attempt from Brooks. Brooks gets slowly back to his feet.
Brooks takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Kirkland misses with the combination.
Kirkland lands with an uppercut that bounces Brooks off the cage and back into rage.
Brooks is trying desperately to land a takedown but Kirkland is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for Brooks.
The fighters circling - Kirkland throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Brooks fails to land the takedown.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Brooks misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Brooks looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kirkland is fending him off so far but Brooks persists. Nope, Kirkland circles away and we're back to standing.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Kirkland's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Brooks shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Kirkland but Kirkland pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Brooks shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kirkland as he avoids it easily.
Kirkland lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Brooks fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Kirkland uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Nice takedown defense from Kirkland. No joy for Brooks on that attempt.

Kirkland lands a jab followed by a vicious hook that sends Brooks sprawling to the canvas. Kirkland follows him down, looking for the kill. Can Brooks hang on?


Brooks is rocked!

Kirkland is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Brooks is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!
