Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kelsey Curtis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luis Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kelsey Curtis! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Luis Fernandez! The judges for this bout are John Mangel, Winston Howard and Donatello Bradman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Fernandez shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Fernandez was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Curtis slips a leg in and gets back to half guard. Curtis is trying to maintain the position but Fernandez is very close to passing his half guard. Fernandez is pressing down on Curtis's thigh, looking to free his foot. Curtis is holding on for now. Curtis actively working from the bottom here. Curtis trying to hold on to Fernandez's head to control him but Fernandez postures up.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Curtis is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Fernandez's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Fernandez's back! Curtis cracks Fernandez with a big shot to body and one to the head - really punishing Fernandez from the back mount here, looking to soften him up.

That's one minute gone in the round. Curtis scores with punches and elbows. Curtis lands a punch to the side of the head from the back. Curtis tries to get the hooks in deep but Fernandez pushed the leg off. Fernandez covers up after that shot from Curtis.
Curtis has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Curtis lands strikes to the head. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Curtis looking for the choke from the back. A lull in the action here.
Curtis is breathing heavily. Curtis is not going to allow Fernandez to sit and survive in this position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Fernandez covering up well and avoiding damage. Curtis connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Fernandez to escape the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Curtis landing strikes, looking to finish! The referee warns Fernandez that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Curtis is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Fernandez to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Fernandez shrugs it off. Curtis lands a big shot there that rocks Fernandez but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
Curtis throwing strikes here but Fernandez is writhing around nicely and avoiding any serious damage.
Curtis looking to ground and pound but Fernandez is blocking nicely. Fernandez taking shots to the head. Curtis lands a nice shot to the head. Curtis thowing shots but they're missing. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Kelsey Curtis dominated that round. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Fernandez gets in close and instigates a clinch. Curtis is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Fernandez jumps guard and drags Curtis to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Fernandez managing to control the position. Fernandez not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Fernandez wants to stand up but Curtis is controlling him. Fernandez really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Curtis. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Fernandez is breathing heavily. Fernandez looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Curtis throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Curtis with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Curtis throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Curtis is trying to control the action in half guard but Fernandez is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Fernandez can do anything to dispel that myth. Curtis scoring with strikes to the body and head.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Curtis is trying to control the action in half guard but Fernandez is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Fernandez has hold of Curtis's hands but Curtis slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Fernandez on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Curtis thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Fernandez's head. Curtis lands strikes from half guard. Curtis trying to pass the guard but Fernandez defending well. Curtis throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man. Fernandez trying to control but Curtis postures up.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Ground and pound from Curtis. Curtis uses his free foot to push down on Fernandez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Fernandez. Curtis fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Fernandez wants to try and get back to his feet. Curtis scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Fernandez?
Fernandez is in a horrible position here. Curtis smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Fernandez is flailing around, obviously not happy about being mounted. Curtis locks hold of one of his arms and spins for an armbar. He's got it! Fernandez is forced to tap!
