Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, joe lee! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ben Lock! The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Lock fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. lee sprawls well initially but Lock persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Lock stalling. Lock is pressing down on lee's thigh, looking to free his foot. lee is holding on for now. Lock trying to control from lee's half guard. lee has other ideas though and has regained full guard. Lock distracts lee with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lock trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Lock forces his way into half guard. lee is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Lock pulls his head out easily. Lock is taking a breather. lee says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. lee looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Lock is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen. Lock works his way into side control. lee is breathing heavily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lock in side control, just content to control the action for now.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Lock lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Lock cracks lee with a big elbow. Lock wants to control but lee is keeping him busy. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Lock decides to stand up, so the ref orders lee to his feet. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ben Lock dominated that round. That's time! lee's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Lock scores with a takedown into lee's guard. Lock trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Lock controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling. lee will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lock got a little sloppy there for a moment and lee has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Lock has managed to get both his arms back between lee's legs - danger averted.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Lock content to stall in guard here. Lock slips nicely into half guard. Lock sitting and controlling from the half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Despite being in the dominant position, Ben Lock just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Lock drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. lee takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head. lee being controlled for a moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Lock tries to move to full mount but lee actually manages to regain half guard. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Still in half guard, Lock seems content to control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ben Lock showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!
lee gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. lee keeping moving, preventing Lock from controlling successfully. lee has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Lock can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Lock passes lee's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Lock stalling. lee keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Lock working over lee with some ground and pound. lee looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Lock takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists. Lock thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed lee's head. Lock works his foot free and advances to mount. Lock lands a heavy elbow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Lock controlling his opponent. lee tries to reverse the position but Lock maintains control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Lock controlling from mount.
And that's the end of the fight! Ben Lock comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Lock has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
