The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Seu Braga and Matheus Silva.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Potempkin uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Souza.
Souza cracks Potempkin with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.
Souza takes a swing at Potempkin's ribcage but misses.
Souza tries to bum rush Potempkin with a series of wild strikes but Potempkin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Potempkin throws a head kick that misses.
Potempkin throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Potempkin moves out of range of the strikes.
Potempkin catches Souza with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
It looks like Vitor Souza has been cut.
Potempkin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
No joy there for Souza, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Souza misses with an uppercut. Potempkin saw that one coming.
Potempkin moves out of range as Souza strikes.
Souza fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Vitor Souza seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Souza misses the body punch
and Potempkin counters with a solid body kick.
Potempkin throws a series of punches but Souza avoids them all with ease.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Souza swings for the body but Potempkin moves out of range.
Potempkin throws a nice outside leg kick.
Souza misses with a combination
and Potempkin counters with a stiff right hand.
Potempkin throws a shot to the body.
Souza looks gassed!
Souza steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Potempkin. That one must have hurt.
Souza drops his hands momentarily and Potempkin takes advantage with a crisp shot to the head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Potempkin throws a head kick that Souza semi-blocks.
Potempkin scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Souza is rocked!
Potempkin sees an opening and throws a straight punch right through Souza's defenses. It connects perfectly with Souza's jaw and knocks him out cold! Wow - that's a contender for knockout of the year - absolutely brutal!
