Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tomasz Adamek! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Odinius Thunder! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Alyssa Summers and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Decent striking displayed by Adamek there. Adamek scores with a one two! Thunder had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
It looks like Odinius Thunder has been cut. Adamek throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Thunder shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. The crowd cheers as Adamek lands an impressive looking overhand right. Thunder doesn't seem phased though. Thunder shoots in but Adamek avoids the takedown attempt easily. Thunder tries for a takedown but Adamek sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily. Tomasz Adamek has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Odinius Thunder. Nice sprawl there from Adamek as Thunder shoots in. Adamek swinging wilding here.
Horrible takedown by Thunder or perhaps it was just good defense by Adamek which made him look bad. Odinius Thunder seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Adamek gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Adamek knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Thunder on the ground. Thunder looks gassed! Thunder advances to half guard. Adamek is looking to get back to is feet but Thunder passes into side control.
Adamek wants to get back to his feet but Thunder drags him back down. Thunder is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Adamek has escaped the position, nice work there. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Adamek is pushing Thunder's head away, looking to escape. Thunder manages to hold on to the position though. Thunder tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Thunder has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought! Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Thunder tries for a kimura but Adamek is defending well.
That's one minute gone in the round. Thunder in side control lands a decent elbow. Adamek is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Thunder has just dragged him back down to the mat. Thunder working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it. Adamek pushes Thunder away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Thunder gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Thunder in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Adamek is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
