Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Victor Peterson! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brandon Pena! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Joseph Jones and Columbo Gatti.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pena gets the takedown into side control. Pena is looking to take a break and control but Peterson is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Pena tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Peterson regains half guard. Peterson trying to control from the bottom.
Pena is pressing down on Peterson's thigh, looking to free his foot. Peterson is holding on for now. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Peterson works his way to full guard. Good work. Peterson manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Peterson fails to advance to Pena's back. Pena is squirming around, avoiding Peterson's attempts to control the action.
That's one minute gone in the round. Pena gets back to half guard. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Pena trying to control from the bottom.
Peterson works his way into full mount! Pena is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Pena looks gassed! Peterson jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Pena is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Pena and Peterson has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Pena is looking to regain half guard here but Peterson keeps moving and retains side control. Pena really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Peterson. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Peterson is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Pena looks calm but he's in trouble here. Peterson gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Pena is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Peterson lets go of the hold and Pena can pop his arm back in it's socket.
