Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mauricio Ferreira (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rod Wallis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ferreira comes into the arena with Drop the World blaring out of the sound system. Wallis has chosen h as his entrance music. Rod Wallis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Mauricio Ferreira!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Rod Wallis!
The judges for this bout are Ivan Kurochkin, Aleksandr Martynov and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wallis misses with a looping left.
Wallis lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Ferreira is looking to clinch.
Wallis thows a body shot but no joy.
Ferreira wants to clinch up but Wallis keeps it at a distance.
Ferreira shoots in looking for a takedown. Wallis tries to sprawl out of it but Ferreira keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wallis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Wallis swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Wallis works Ferreira's body with a nice hook.

Wallis gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Ferreira tries to free his leg and advance position but Wallis is retaining full guard.

Wallis is trying to control the position but Ferreira postures up.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Wallis just misses with a punch to the body.
Ferreira shoots in looking for a takedown. Wallis tries to sprawl out of it but Ferreira keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Wallis manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Wallis has his takedown stuffed

and Ferreira counters with a nice double leg into side control. Wallis won't be happy with that.

Ferreira swings around for an armbar but Wallis sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Ferreira's guard.

Ferreira throws a leg kick which misses Wallis's front leg but catches the back leg as Wallis tries to avoid it.
Wallis throws a hook but Ferreira avoids it easily.
Ferreira fails with an attempt to clinch.
Wallis is looking to chop away at Ferreira's legs.
Wallis fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Ferreira manages to avoid it.
Ferreira ducks right into an uppercut from Wallis.
Mauricio Ferreira is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Wallis lands with a nice body punch.
Wallis tries for a takedown but Ferreira circles away easily

and Ferreira counters with a takedown into side control.
Wallis gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.

Ferreira is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Wallis sees it coming and defends easily.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Ferreira clinches up against the cage.

Wallis breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

Ferreira gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Wallis to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Wallis stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Ferreira swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Wallis with a flurry of punches that miss.

Ferreira has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Wallis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Wallis postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

Wallis wants to control from the top but Ferreira keeps moving.

Ferreira is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Wallis is aware though and is defending well.

A low kick from Wallis is predictable there

and Ferreira counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Ferreira.
Ferreira stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Wallis swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Ferreira drops back, looking for a kneebar! Wallis looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Wallis looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Wallis!
Wallis lands a decent elbow from side control.
Ferreira takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Ferreira tries to bench press Wallis off him but Wallis keeps the position.

Ferreira managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Wallis.
Ferreira manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Ferreira tries to roll over but Wallis keeps him under control.
Ferreira makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Ferreira.
Wallis postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Wallis wants to control from the top but Ferreira keeps moving.

Ferreira escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wallis gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Wallis trying to control the position from guard on top but Ferreira is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mauricio Ferreira showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Ferreira, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
