Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Trever Bernard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hiro Sanchei (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Trever Bernard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Hiro Sanchei!
The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Anthony Taglia and Columbo Gatti.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sanchei throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Sanchei.
Sanchei tries to close the distance and clinch but Bernard swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Bernard gets the takedown into side control.
Bernard controls the position.
Bernard misses with the ground and pound.
Sanchei seems a little lost for a moment, as Bernard dominates the positioning.
Bernard has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Sanchei is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Bernard asserts his dominance and retains side control.

You can see the frustration on Sanchei's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Trever Bernard just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.
Bernard misses with a few strikes there.

so Sanchei counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Bernard pulls Sanchei in close to prevent any damage.
Bernard keeping full guard, as Sanchei tries to pass.
Bernard wants to sweep but no luck.
Bernard pulls Sanchei in close to his closed guard and prevents Sanchei from doing any damage or advancing position.
Bernard trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Trever Bernard will probably get the nod.
That's time! Bernard's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Bernard drives through and clinches with Sanchei against the cage.

Bernard controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Bernard is looking to work some ground and pound but Sanchei has wrist control.

Bernard avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Sanchei looking for a sweep. Not yet Sanchei, not yet.
Bernard controls from within his opponent's guard.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Sanchei keeping moving, preventing Bernard from controlling successfully.
Bernard won't allow Sanchei to get back to his feet.
Bernard trying to control the position from guard on top but Sanchei is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Bernard has managed to clinch.
Sanchei is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Sanchei is trying to break free.
Bernard drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Bernard stalling in the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Trever Bernard dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Sanchei blocks a head kick by Bernard.
Sanchei clinches but Bernard breaks the clinch
and Bernard counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

Sanchei drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Sanchei must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Bernard lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Sanchei!

Sanchei manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Sanchei wants to improve his position but Bernard is controlling well.
Sanchei keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Sanchei takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sanchei holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Bernard seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Bernard passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Sanchei!

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Trever Bernard.
Well Bernard has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
