Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
14 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Krzys Soszynski! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Arkley! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, George Francis and Alan Glass.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Soszynski shoots in for a takedown but Arkley shows good takedown defense. Soszynski fails with the takedown. Soszynski tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Soszynski closes this distance looking for a takedown but Arkley circles away. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Krzys Soszynski. That's going to take a lot out of him. Soszynski moves in looking to clinch but Arkley pushes him off. Soszynski keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Arkley lands a jab to the nose. Arkley scores to the head and body with a nice combination! Soszynski shoots for a double leg takedown but Arkley sprawls well. He's pushed Soszynski's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Soszynski closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Soszynski wants to take a breather but Arkley is having none of it.
That's one minute gone in the round. Arkley is trying to control but can't.
Arkley is controlling Soszynski's position as best he can from this difficult position. Soszynski not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Arkley is trying to get back to full guard. Arkley really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Soszynski. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Soszynski sitting and controlling from the half guard. Soszynski is trying to control the action in half guard but Arkley is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Arkley wants to get back to full guard.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. An inside leg kick lands from Arkley. Arkley avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
James Arkley is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Soszynski misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Arkley cracks Soszynski with a good jab. A combination from Arkley does no damage. Donk. Arkley catches Soszynski right on the button with a cross. Arkley fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Soszynski. Soszynski will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Arkley clobbers Soszynski with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Arkley swings for the body but Soszynski moves out of range.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Arkley looks to score with a jab to the body but Soszynski is just out of range. Nice straight punches there by Arkley. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Arkley. Arkley dances in with a quick combination. Soszynski is being worked over with jabs and crosses. Oooh, a right straight from Arkley snaps Soszynski's head back. Soszynski stumbles backwards against the cage. Arkley steps forward and delivers a right cross that connects with Soszynski's jaw, simultaneously knocking him out and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd! There's a worthy souvenir for the fans. This one is over folks. Soszynski just didn't come prepared.
