Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tidal Wave (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joh Jah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wave comes to the cage accompanied by One Of These Days. Joh Jah will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the light heavyweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tidal Wave!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joh Jah!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Trevor Gratis and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jah keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Wave shoots in and bounces Jah off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Wave trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Jah keeping full guard, as Wave tries to pass.
Wave trying to control but Jah is working from the bottom.
Jah has control of Wave's left arm, preventing Wave from doing any damage.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Wave looking to pass the guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
A punch combination from Wave misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Wave misses with a takedown attempt - Jah sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Jah looks to score with a jab to the body but Wave is just out of range.
Wave uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Jah.

and Wave counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jah's guard now.
Wave loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Jah looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Wave trying to control but Jah is working from the bottom.
Wave won't allow Jah to sweep him here.
Jah pulls Wave in close to prevent any damage.
Jah keeping moving, preventing Wave from controlling successfully.
Jah is trying to control the position but Wave postures up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jah bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Wave's head backwards.
Jah moves out of range as Wave throws a body kick.
Jah tries to close the distance and clinch but Wave swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Jah throws a nice looking combination but Wave bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Wave blocks a jab.

Wave shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Wave uses his free foot to push down on Jah's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Jah.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Jah keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Wave is landing with some decent strikes but Jah is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
BOOM! Wave connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Jah tries to hold on but Wave pushes him away.
Wave has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Wave lands with some strikes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jah wants to control but Wave is having none of it.
Wave lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Wave lands a big shot there that rocks Jah but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.

Wave has control of Jah's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Jah regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Jah tries to hold on but Wave postures up.

Jah tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Jah is in a horrible position here. Wave smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Wave looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Wave cracks Jah with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Jah can't escape the position.
BOOM! Wave connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Jah is rocked!
Wave lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Jah is still in real trouble! Can Wave finish him?
Wave lands a big shot to the head and Jah winces in pain. He's tapped out due to strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). Tidal Wave!
Tidal Wave retains his light heavyweight title!
