And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Chris Ellis!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Ellis looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Paulson is fending him off so far but Ellis persists. Nope, Paulson circles away and we're back to standing.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Ellis.
Paulson slaps away a takedown attempt from Ellis, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Robert Paulson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Chris Ellis.
Ellis on the wrong end of a nice hook.

Paulson closes the distance and pushes Ellis back into the cage.
Paulson's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Ellis drops down looking for an ankle pick but Paulson pulls his leg out and moves away.

Paulson rushes Ellis and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Paulson lands a left hand that snaps the head of Ellis backwards.
Paulson gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Ellis.

Paulson is pressed up against the cage. Ellis has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Paulson down to the mat. Paulson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Robert Paulson is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Ellis instigates a clinch.
Paulson makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Paulson pushes Ellis back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Ellis looks gassed!
Paulson lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Ellis backwards.


Ellis is rocked!
Ellis drops down looking for an ankle pick but Paulson pulls his leg out and moves away.
Ellis is still on wobbly legs! Can Paulson finish him?
Ellis should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Ellis shoots in but no luck this time.

Paulson clinches up with Ellis and pushes him back against the cage.
Ellis seems to have recovered his senses.
Paulson just leaning against Ellis, taking a breather.

Paulson breaks the clinch.

Paulson takes the fight into the clinch.
Ellis can't get the takedown.
Paulson lands a hook that snaps the head of Ellis backwards.

Paulson escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ellis tries to clinch but Paulson moves away

and Paulson counters by moving into the clinch.
A short right from Paulson.
Paulson is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Paulson lands with a short head shot on the inside.
Come on Paulson - let's have some action - none of this stalling nonsense.
Ellis goes for a takedown attempt but Paulson pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Paulson gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Paulson lands a nice uppercut.
Paulson scores with a shot to the side of Ellis's head.
A quick uppercut on the inside from Paulson.
Paulson lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage.
Paulson is pressed up against the cage. Ellis has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Paulson down to the mat. Paulson avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Paulson has managed to clinch.
A nice left hand lands by Paulson.
Paulson lands a right hand that snaps the head of Ellis backwards.
Paulson creates some distance for himselfand unleashes a massive uppercut that sends Ellis's eyes rolling into the back of his head! Ellis drops to his knees and Paulson pours it on with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:54 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Robert Paulson!
