Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Yoshihiro Nakayama! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Greene! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Wesley Smith and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Nakayama shoots in but no luck this time. Greene avoids the head kick by Nakayama.
Greene keeps the fight on the outside. Nakayama shoots for a takedown but Greene saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Greene misses with a wild combination.
Nakayama tries to close the distance and clinch up but Greene swats him away and circles back towards the center. Greene throws a right hand that Nakayama ducks under and follows up with a left that Nakayama also avoids with ease. Nakayama tries to clinch up. James Greene seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Nakayama fails miserably with a takedown attempt. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Yoshihiro Nakayama. That's going to take a lot out of him. Greene shoots in and drives through. Nakayama sprawls well. Greene shoots in for a double leg but Nakayama sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy. Greene throws a head kick that misses. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Greene throws a right hand that Nakayama ducks under and follows up with a left that Nakayama also avoids with ease. Greene misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Nakayama misses with a takedown attempt - Greene sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Greene throws a right hand that Nakayama ducks under and follows up with a left that Nakayama also avoids with ease. Greene looks gassed! Greene tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Greene keeps the fight on the outside.
That's one minute gone in the round. Greene throws a sloppy head kick and Nakayama counters with a shoot takedown. Greene fights it but they end up in guard. Nakayama forces his way into half guard. Nakayama is trying to control the action in half guard but Greene is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Greene is defending against the submission attempts here by Nakayama.
Nakayama wants to stand but Greene has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. Nakayama slows the pace down in half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Nakayama wants to control but Greene is keeping him busy. Nakayama trying to pass the guard but Greene defending well. Nakayama working the head and body with strikes. Nakayama is tying to control. Greene wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Nakayama throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Greene stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Nakayama tries to close the distance and clinch up but Greene swats him away and circles back towards the center. Greene falls off balance throwing a combination
so Nakayama counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Nakayama trying to control the position from guard on top but Greene is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Nakayama is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Greene is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Greene has escaped and now he's on top! Nakayama can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Greene controls the pace. Greene wants to control from the top but Nakayama keeps moving. Greene not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Greene stands and throws Nakayama's legs to the side, diving into side control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Greene scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Nakayama to see if he's OK. Nakayama looking for a sweep but Greene has passed into full mount! Oh no! Nakayama is trying desperately to improve position. Nakayama has given up his back here.
Greene is looking to finish with some ground and pound! Nakayama won't enjoy being in this position. Greene looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Nakayama is tapping - it's over boys! Greene picks up the submission victory!
