Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jimmy Hacker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jean Paul Valley!
The judges for this bout are Emerson Jorge, Daniel Cesar and Seu Braga.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Valley throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Hacker's waist but Hacker gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Valley off to one side.
Valley shoots in for a double leg but Hacker sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Valley gets the takedown into side control.
Hacker dodges the ground and pound from Valley.
Hacker parries the strikes from Valley easily there. Valley is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Hacker to escape.
Valley slows the pace down.
Valley tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.

Valley tries for a kimura but Hacker is defending well.
Valley creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Hacker sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The strikes coming from Valley are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Valley misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Hacker slaps away a takedown attempt from Valley, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Jimmy Hacker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jean Paul Valley.

Valley is looking to get full guard. It looks like he might be successful but at the last minute Hacker jumps into side control!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Valley is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Valley regains half guard.
Valley wants to improve his position but Hacker is controlling well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

and Hacker makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Hacker fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

and Hacker counters with a thumping low kick.

Hacker lands with an uppercut that bounces Valley off the cage and back into rage.

and Hacker counters with a series of strikes. Valley will be more careful next time no doubt.

Valley shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Valley was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Hacker might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Valley sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Valley throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
Valley scoring with strikes but Hacker is staying in there.
Valley has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Valley can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Hacker is looking to escape.

Poor strikes thrown by Valley there. More accuracy and less frantic strikes would help!

Valley tries to control but Hacker wriggling away.
Hacker is wriggling around trying to escape.

Hacker is in a horrible position here. Valley smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.


It looks like Jimmy Hacker has been cut.

Hacker takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
Valley lands a heavy elbow.

Valley moves into side control, trying to work for a kimura. That looks painful! Will he finish!!?? No, Hacker has worked his arm free - good work by Hacker!

Jean Paul Valley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Jimmy Hacker's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Hacker stalks Valley and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Valley's face. Valley staggers backwards, shaken.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

and Hacker connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

and Hacker counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Valley thinking.
Hacker lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
Hacker lands with a straight right. Valley didn't see that one coming.

and Hacker counters with a one-two to the body.
Jimmy Hacker is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Hacker shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Valley pinned against the cage. Valley gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

enabling Hacker to counter with a crisp jab.

Valley stuffs the takedown.
Hacker shoots for a double leg takedown but Valley sprawls well. He's pushed Hacker's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Hacker makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Hacker defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Valley.
Valley with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Hacker to score with a decent uppercut.

Valley closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Valley is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hacker doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Valley.
The fighters are battling for position here. Hacker manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Jimmy Hacker has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Valley postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Valley is looking to work some ground and pound but Hacker has wrist control.

I think Valley has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
