PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Ben Reilly (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marcus Priste (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Reilly comes to the cage accompanied by Mistaken Identity. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ben Reilly !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Marcus Priste!
The judges for this bout are Steve Smith, Ian Loll and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reilly lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Priste takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Reilly throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Priste on the side of the head.
Reilly slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Priste looks to throw the jab but Reilly is out of range.
Nice body punch from Reilly .
Reilly lands a really nice looking cross but Priste seems unphased.
Reilly throws a hook but Priste avoids it easily.
Reilly connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Priste's hands.
A punch lands to the side of Priste 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Reilly connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Priste throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Reilly was covering up waiting for the punch and Priste finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Priste throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Reilly works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Priste passes Reilly 's left leg - he's now in half guard.
Priste stalling away here and it's allowed Reilly to slip out his trapped foot and regain full guard.

Priste pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Reilly is keeping the position for now.
Priste throws and elbow that misses. Reilly uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Priste's guard. Nice move by Reilly !
Priste looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Priste wants to sweep here but Reilly controlling him for the moment.
Priste keeping moving, preventing Reilly from controlling successfully.
Reilly is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Priste is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Reilly stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Priste swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Reilly scores with a sloppy right hand. Priste should have avoided that one.
Reilly lands with a shot to the body.
Reilly is really peppering his opponent's head with punches.
Reilly throws an overhand right that lands on Priste's shoulder, as Priste tries to avoid the shot.
Reilly bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Priste's head backwards.
Priste misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Priste takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Reilly connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Reilly lands with a right hand.
Reilly is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.
Priste on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Reilly lands with an uppercut that bounces Priste off the cage and back into rage.
Reilly cracks a nice hook into Priste's ribs.
Ben Reilly seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Priste takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Priste throws a jab but it's blocked by Reilly .

Reilly scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Reilly is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.
Reilly scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Priste doesn't seem bothered though.
Priste loads up on a big right hand but Reilly slips the punch.
Reilly moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Priste shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Priste takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Reilly bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Priste's head.

Priste has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Reilly finds it's way round the side to connect with Priste's head.

Priste drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Priste passes Reilly 's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Reilly is trying to control but can't.

Reilly tries to roll over but Priste keeps him under control.
The fighters are battling for position here. Reilly manages to regain full guard. Nice work.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That was a close round but I would say that Ben Reilly will probably get the nod.

Reilly tries to bum rush Priste with a series of wild strikes but Priste uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Priste takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Reilly is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Check out the look on Priste's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
Reilly is looking to regain half guard here but Priste keeps moving and retains side control.

Reilly takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Reilly tries to bench press Priste off him but Priste keeps the position.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Priste dodges the punch combination from Reilly .
Priste has a pretty nasty looking mouse under his right eye.
Reilly scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Reilly stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Reilly connects with a crisp jab.
Priste just misses with a punch to the body.
Priste is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Reilly bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Reilly lands a jab to Priste's midsection.

Reilly fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Priste takes one to the chin there.
Priste swings for the body but Reilly moves out of range.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Reilly catches Priste with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Reilly throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Reilly 's corner calls for a 1-2. Reilly obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Reilly lands a nice shot that snaps Priste's head back.
Priste looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Reilly is fending him off so far but Priste persists. Nope, Reilly circles away and we're back to standing.

Reilly is trying to force a seperation but Priste has the dominant position.

Reilly wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Reilly jumps guard but Priste stands there with Reilly around his waist. Reilly gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Reilly moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.

Priste throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Reilly throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Priste sees it coming and avoids it easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Reilly swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Priste.
Reilly keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.

Reilly lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Reilly throws a right and a left that Priste avoids nicely.

Priste clinches up against the cage.
Reilly tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Priste just stands there and leans against the cage.

Reilly manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Priste thows a big elbow that misses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Priste trying to control but Reilly is working from the bottom.
Priste stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Reilly swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Priste is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Priste trying to move into half guard but instead Reilly has managed to sweep!
Priste is adopting a defensive guard.
Reilly trying to control the position from guard on top but Priste is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Priste is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Reilly lands a nice shot that snaps Priste's head back.
Priste gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Priste misses with a hook. Reilly ducked under it nicely.

Good exchange - Reilly coming out on top.

Reilly rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Priste moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Reilly lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Priste goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Priste walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Priste tries to close the distance and clinch up but Reilly swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Reilly scores with a jab. Priste acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
