Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Toshiro Umezawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Flying Phoenix (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Umezawa comes to the cage accompanied by Zoku. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Toshiro Umezawa! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Flying Phoenix! The judges for this bout are Robert Douchet, Alec Ball and William Peck.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Phoenix looks to land a right hand but Umezawa moved out of range. Umezawa turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick. Phoenix misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Umezawa throws a half hearted mid kick. Umezawa goes for a high kick. It partially lands. Umezawa misses with a head kick.
Umezawa throws a nice outside leg kick. Phoenix darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Well, if Phoenix is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Phoenix tries to pass to full mount but Umezawa defends it. Phoenix controlling the action here. Umezawa knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Phoenix on the ground.
That's one minute gone in the round. Phoenix is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Umezawa doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Phoenix. Still in half guard, Phoenix seems content to control. Phoenix wants to free his trapped foot but Umezawa is holding on for dear life with his legs. Umezawa really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. Phoenix controlling the action here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Umezawa trying to keep hold of his opponent's head but Phoenix manages to pass to mount!
Umezawa is breathing heavily. Phoenix controlling the pace for now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Umezawa on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Umezawa tries to get out of the position.
Despite being in the dominant position, Flying Phoenix just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Phoenix fails to land the takedown. Phoenix avoids the head kick by Umezawa.
Phoenix shoots in and drives through. Umezawa sprawls well. Toshiro Umezawa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Flying Phoenix. No luck for Phoenix with that takedown attempt. A leg kick checked by Phoenix. Phoenix fails with the takedown. Umezawa throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Nice takedown defense from Umezawa. No joy for Phoenix on that attempt. Umezawa throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land. Phoenix misses with a takedown attempt - Umezawa sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses. Umezawa lands with a kick to the temple. Phoenix shrugs as if to say "is that all you've got?" Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Umezawa lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Phoenix has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Phoenix and we're back underway with a touch of gloves. Umezawa keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. An inside leg kick from Umezawa misses. Phoenix closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Umezawa did well to prevent Phoenix getting side control. Phoenix frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Phoenix controlling from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Flying Phoenix will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Umezawa displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Phoenix. Phoenix tries to bum rush Umezawa with a series of wild strikes but Umezawa uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Phoenix throws an overhand right that lands on Umezawa's shoulder, as Umezawa tries to avoid the shot. Umezawa looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Toshiro Umezawa is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Phoenix shoots for a double leg takedown but Umezawa sprawls well. He's pushed Phoenix's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Phoenix has a takedown stuffed. Toshiro Umezawa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Flying Phoenix. Like a baseball bat into the meat of his leg there - nice leg kick by Umezawa.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Phoenix takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
Umezawa feints and then cracks Phoenix's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Phoenix down. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Phoenix shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Umezawa as he jumps to the side. Phoenix pushes Umezawa up against the cage in a clinch.
That's one minute gone in the round. Phoenix is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Umezawa pulls him back up using the underhooks. Phoenix misses with a short punch on the inside. Phoenix tries for a takedown. No joy.
Phoenix wants a takedown.
Umezawa wants to break the clinch but can't.
Phoenix is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Umezawa can't fight it off and eventually Phoenix manages to take the fight to the floor. Umezawa looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard. Phoenix trying to control the position from guard on top but Umezawa is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Phoenix passes Umezawa's right leg, so he's now in half guard. Well, if Phoenix is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Phoenix works his foot free and advances to mount. Phoenix with a couple of short strikes.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Phoenix controlling the pace for now. Umezawa is trying to escape the mount but Phoenix keeps good control and instead manages to take Umezawa's back.
Phoenix has the hooks sunk in and you can see the will to fight slowly draining out of Umezawa's body.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Umezawa wants to escape the position.
Phoenix has got one arm under Umezawa's chin. This could be trouble... Umezawa trying to control the other hand but Phoenix gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Umezawa has tapped out! The fight is over!
