Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bas Rutten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tyler Gipson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tyler Gipson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Bas Rutten! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Tyler Gipson! The judges for this bout are Alyssa Summers, Jorge Garcia and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Gipson is looking to take this fight into the clinch. Rutten closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Rutten can't break the clinch.
Rutten gets control of Gipson's arms and successfully pulls guard. Rutten will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Rutten is looking to stand up but Gipson isn't so interested in that idea. Rutten not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Rutten wants to stand and escape but Gipson is having none of it. Gipson tries to free his leg and advance position but Rutten is retaining full guard. Rutten trying to keep a closed guard but Gipson is proving a slippery customer.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rutten is on top in guard.
Rutten gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent. Gipson tries a switch kick but it misses it's target. Gipson decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Rutten manages to escape and get back to his feet! Rutten is breathing heavily. Gipson clinches but Rutten breaks the clinch and Rutten counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Rutten. Gipson trying to keep a closed guard but Rutten is proving a slippery customer.

This has been an exciting period of action! Rutten lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Rutten decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Gipson, up you get! Rutten throws a head kick that misses. Gipson is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Rutten's half guard. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Rutten on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Gipson drops an elbow to the side of Rutten's head.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rutten kicks Gipson off and gets back to his feet. Gipson blocks a head kick by Rutten.
Rutten throws a right and a left that Gipson avoids nicely. Gipson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Rutten sprawls well initially but Gipson persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Rutten trying to control but Gipson postures up.
Rutten looking for submissions off his back. Rutten wants to control the action here but instead Gipson manages to pass to full mount! Gipson trying to control but Rutten is having none of it. Rutten is trying to get to the cage to help him get back to his feet.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Gipson looking to control and managing it successfully. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Gipson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Rutten is looking to escape. Gipson prevents Rutten from getting the reversal. That was a close round but I would say that Bas Rutten will probably get the nod. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Gipson fails with a takedown attempt. Bas Rutten is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Rutten throws a combination. Gipson tries to block but a couple of punches get through. Rutten moves into range and clinches up with Gipson. Rutten drags the fight down to the ground.
Gipson gets to his feet - Rutten follows without any prompting. Rutten dives in and grabs Gipson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Gipson pushes down on Rutten's head and hops out. Gipson tries to grapple but his opponent circles and Rutten moves into the clinch.

Gipson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Rutten feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Gipson is trying to control the position but Rutten postures up. Gipson throwing strikes off his back to little effect.
Rutten with a flurry of punches that miss. Rutten scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Rutten is in close to Gipson's body, working some short punches and elbows. Rutten prevents Gipson from getting back to his feet. Gipson controls Rutten momentarily but Rutten frees himself. Gipson looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up. Rutten changes levels and scores with a jab to the body. Rutten lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.

Rutten changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Gipson looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better. Rutten is putting a hurting on Gipson here, landing some big shots from side control. Rutten moves into full mount! Rutten punishing his opponent with strikes.

Gipson bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done! Rutten wriggles free and stands up. Rutten throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Gipson's head. Rutten throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Gipson closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so. Rutten lands a jab-cross combination. Rutten throws a left and a right that both miss
and Gipson counters with a one-two to the body. Gipson chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Rutten can pounce on him.

Rutten stands up from Gipson's guard - Rutten perhaps looking for a knockout. The fight stays on the outside here - Gipson looks like he's thinking about clinching though. Gipson misses with a takedown and Rutten counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Gipson thinking. Rutten lands a head kick!

That's three minutes gone in the round. Gipson letting Rutten take a breather here. Rutten is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Gipson pulls him back up using the underhooks. Gipson tries to score a body lock takedown but Rutten shows good agility there to stay on his feet. Bas Rutten has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Tyler Gipson. Rutten's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Rutten shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Gipson napping and manages to drive through into side control! Gipson is looking to regain half guard here but Rutten keeps moving and retains side control. Rutten scoring with punches from side control. Rutten has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Rutten decides to stand up, so the ref orders Gipson to his feet. Gipson throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Rutten counters with a straight punch to the midsection. Gipson pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bas Rutten seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Gipson wants to clinch but Rutten slips to the side and Rutten counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Rutten.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rutten has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Gipson uses from the top position. Gipson preventing the sweep. Bas Rutten is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Rutten wants to stand up but Gipson is controlling him. Gipson wants to get up but he can't break Rutten's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Gipson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rutten swivels though and keeps the full guard. Gipson wants to stand but Rutten has a closed guard, so he can't escape. Gipson looking to sit in guard and control but Rutten gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Rutten won't allow Gipson to sweep him here.
And that's the end of the fight! Bas Rutten showed his dominance in that final round. Well Rutten has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
