Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Johnny Redman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Blackie Lawler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Redman comes into the arena with Sympathy for the Devil blaring out of the sound system. Lawler comes into a darkened arena with his song building. hand on the pump kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Redman looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Lawler throws a lazy right hand but Redman sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily. Lawler misses the shot to the body. Lawler throws a low kick but it's checked well by Redman. Lawler throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Redman. Lawler throws a hook to the side of Redman's head but Redman sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Lawler throws a right and a left that both miss. Redman shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Lawler defends it nicely. Redman steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Lawler. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Lawler misses with a wild body shot. Lawler throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Lawler swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Redman shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Lawler as he jumps to the side. Lawler fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Redman manages to avoid it. Lawler looks to score with a jab to the body but Redman is just out of range. Lawler rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Redman moves out of range and avoids them all easily. A big right from Lawler misses. Lawler misses with a jab, cross combination.

Redman is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Lawler is surviving well by controlling Redman's body position as best he can. Redman moves to the back. Redman is looking for the choke from the back position but Lawler is controlling his hands well.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Redman is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Lawler has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
