Gillooley comes to the cage accompanied by Horchata. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Whitefield shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Gillooley is trying to defend but Whitefield finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Gillooley looks like he's trying to stand up.
Whitefield trying to control the action but Gillooley is working from the bottom.

Gillooley drops back, looking for a kneebar! Whitefield looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Whitefield looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Whitefield!
Gillooley is trying to control Whitefield's posture but Whitefield avoids it.
